It was its own fault for the poor sales. Overpriced, underpowered, poorly build coupe. They shouldn't have bothered importing the 1999 - 2002 Cobra, it sucked. 240kW 430Nm V8 coupe for $88,000? How much was a Monaro CV8 at the time, like $50k? Plus it wasn't that fast either, and it may as well have been screwed together by toddlers. It was cheaply done, overpriced, had 0% marketing.. and well, yeah.

Plus, the year they brought it over, the T3 Tickford cars kind overshadowed it completley. If it had come in a year earlier (during T2), it might've done a bit better.

I had a sit in a Mustang Cobra convertible at the motor show a couple of years back, and i can see why they didn't sell. The build quality on the interior, deadset i'd compare it with that of an old excel. Unless it was due to the fact that it was a motor show example, but a car that new to look and feel so loose in the cabin......Sorry to any Mustang owners here :

Because we got the fairy model with 32oHp, an o3/o4 cobra pumps out 39ohp according to the manual but in reality pumps about 35orwhp.

Ford US build quality isn't meant to be anything to write home about.
