first of all put up some pics of the car and its engine,

and if u want a cheap engine with more a fiar bit more power than the 1.6 get a 2.0 pinto from a cortina or rs2000 escort. the engine will bolt right in, and u can still use the existing gearbox + bellhousing. and there are a LOAD of aftermarket parts available for it

heres an examply of a high powered 2.0 being built

i got mine for $250, but even tho it has good compression, the thermostat housing had 2 be replaced, and the carburetter is a bit tempermental.

a good running low ks should be about $500 ive seen good ones go for less, and i saw one on ebay not to long ago that was all modified and such that made 140 kw and sold for $300 but it was dirty as hell

mad thats really affordable i think thats gunna be my choice of motor.
how far would say $1500 $2000 go on internal motor work like ccams ,better pistons, bore ,balance. maybe ill find won thats allready been done if im lucky.

um do you no if ther are any stronger gear boxs that yous the same bell housing and go straight in or do you think the standard box will be strong enough also some won told me that the auto mk11 rs2000 escorts come out with really strong diffs is this true if so would it be a good idea.

anyway im going to the park on sunday to take a few pics
so hopfully sunday night ill have them on here

thanks mate

i wouldnt have a clue about the diffs. i not the panel van escorts have different ones.

the manual box in cortinas and escorts 4 speed, are all the same

autos dunno.

parts for the engine are the same price as any other, like $600 forged rods, $780 Pistons, $300 lumpy cams, $400 intake weber kit, $80 high pressue oil pump etc.

little mods on the pinto give great improvement and big mods do even better!

i just bought some used extractors for $50, after soem sandpaper $4, rust eater $16, and heat proof silver paint $15, they look like they were brand new, for the $400 they cost to get made.

cheers

i have an escort mk 2 1976. it had the 1600 in it and its going for the 2000cc

everythigns pretty much the same except the exterior and maybe suspension but the drivetrain is the same.

and no matter how crap the stock gearbox may seem, it can handle the 2.0 trust me.

lol

um the mondeo is a front wheel drive so that is a huge deal... and dont count on your chances of finding a cheap motor with big power.. it doesnt exist!! the car wreckers know more than you!.

best to look for engines, like the pinto, that have a load of parts available
