Hi guys, I just picked up a C2R grille from the wreckers (I asked what he wanted for it and couldn't walk away once he told me), and thought I'd see how it looked on my car before I go get it painted, anyway, is there a trick to putting them on/in? It doesn't seem to want to sit right, are there different mounting brackets or something or am I just not trying hard enough? Mounting is different to my Fairmont grille definitely. I realise there's high and low series, mine's a high series so that's not the issue, and I know people have had them on there with standard front bumpers, so help me out! Thanks in advance!
I'll take some photos to show what I mean as soon as I can... |

it should all clip up/screw up the same as the standard grill?
is it missing brackets off the back? compare it to your standard grill?

Yeah I assumed it would, I need to have more of a play with it. Doesn't seem to be missing any brackets, I'll take a photo of the 2 next to each other later so show you what I mean.

I thought the C2R grille only fit the low/XR series bonnets?

It wouldn't matter was series AU as they all attach the same way. It all goes in the same way as your original grill.
PM sent. You can give me a call if that helps |

OK, I've figured it out (I think!). There's 'low series' and 'high series' grilles, ie to suit series 1 and series 2/3. The grille mounts into the inner plastic of the headlight, so I can only assume that there's a difference between series 1 and 2/3 headlights? It's not a huge difference though, and it could be easily made to fit. Since the utes had low series bonnets through all series I am not sure on the headlight theory though. There's four mounting tabs at the top of the grille, only 2 line up with the holes on my 'mont. Anyway, I think I've decided not to bother, since I'd need to respray it etc, so if anyone's interested in this, let me know. Cheers!

Yep JC, I think that's the trick, the inner 2 holes line up, and the bottom support bits line up, just needs 2 extra holes drilled for the 2 outer bits.

Yer, you have it sorted now. I just went and grabbed a series 1 (low series) C2R grill and compared it to the series 2/3 (high series) C2R grill and it is the 4 locating points on the top that are different. Well 2 of them, the outside 2, one on each side are located further apart on the series 1.
