NSW is about the only state with Greenslips.

In qld you can choose your ctp insurer but there is at very most $20 between them and is the one set price weather you are 17 or 99 years old
You pay it with your rego each year.

Whats a greenslip? CTP insurance? Just under $300 IIRC (thats if its CTP). Thats Qld, dont know if it changes for locations with different traffic densities etc.

Edit: Checked papers, $272 with Suncorp for 12 months.

Considering why it exists and what it provides for, no. Depends how its priced though, you need to consider the likely payouts and frequency of said payouts to work out the costs to be covered. Id prefer that to being sued personally or trying to get money from from someone who has nothing if ever needed.

Even if youre hit by an unreg'd car, as long as you have valid rego and CTP (greenslip), you can claim against CTP type insurances for physical/emotional injuries. Same for pedestrians.

Thats pretty much what we have in NSW i think. We can choose the insurance company but all the prices are close anyway. I don't think there is a set price here though, it depends on the type of car, weight, engine. I think.

Pretty sure we pay heaps more than other states, feels like it anyway

The basic premium had gone up $100, and theres now a new medical levy that has come in from our wonderful NSW State Goverment which is $140.

I may end up registering it in the ACT

it is the age of the car after 10 or 12 depending on the insurer the price shoots up

I second that.

Is it rego (registration)? Compulsory CTP (I assume this is the personal injury stuff rather than property) is included in our registration down here in Vic. All up it's well and truely in the $500+ bracket.

The CTP premium for me was $386 this year and as far as I'm aware NRMA are the only providers of CTP in the ACT. It is included in the rego.

I am also in NSW and my rego is due this month and because i am under 25 and the car is in my name everything is inflated. This is this years rego bill.

Registration RTA = $382.00
Greenslip NRMA = $614.43
Pinkslip = $31.10
TOTAL = $1,027.53

NSW is the biggest rip off IMO, it has worked out so much cheaper in QLD
