It's a huge fine for having high emissions, which you will have should you decide to smash the guts out of it.

No but when a cop that knows the sound hears it and sends you off to an EPA testing station you will cop it.

Nope, but I just don't see the point in risking a huge fine and a canary when a high flow cat will net you better results than a gutted one.

1. remove stock converter
2. get some old converter
3. smash the ceramic outta the converter
4. chuck it in ur zorst system
if u get pulled over and sent for testing chuck the original back in
plus if ur running a 2.5" performance pipe u gotta get a bigger catalyic converter anyway or its rendered useless by pipe diameter reducers to connect in the converter

Yeah man, not having a cat causes everyone to die!
Terrible!

But honestly, It's like a $10,000 dollar fine for not having a cat on a petrol car.
Better off forking out for a high flow like the rest of us.

unscrew it, open it up, ditch the guts, put it back together and bolt it back on!

or pay $75 under the counter at an exhaust place and they'll do it for you! ... but it doesnt doo anything!

and if you do get it emision tested then play dumb and that you didnt know! or if you have a close friend that a mechanic, tell them that it's booked in for tomorrow too get it replaced!!

My Cat just went the other week, and i considered knocking it out ... but i just went and spent $200 and got a high flow one!

Im so glad its school holidays...........
Its illegal, so why do it? Unless your an absoloute idiot, and want to make 1 or 2 kw, then why waste your time, and risk coping a 10g fine.
If you want a little extra power, there are easier ways to get it.
I think you need to grow up a little bit mate.

A cat needs a lot of exhaust heat into it before it starts to work as it works by burning off anything unburnt in the exhaust.

I doubt that you would fail a test without one because they arent going to run your car long enough to get it up to heat.

They can tell if youve taken the guts out of it by giving it a tap and itll sound hollow.

Geez some of you people are smart....not. Car not getting up to heat when they test it. What a joke, too bad when you a cruising along and come across a random EPA testing station when the cops and EPA are doing a blitz on unroadworthy cars. This happens quite a lot. Reckon you could go to an exhaust shop then?

Idiots.

Personally I don't see what the issue is. Its a cat converter. Its supposed to remove toxins and such from the exhaust before its vented into atmosphere. This is a good thing. I'm sure you don't want to wake up every morning to be greeted by a massive smog over the city... not that there isn't one already.

You lose all of 2kW with one installed. WOW! Thats such a massive loss of power isn't it? That 2kW is certainly going to make a difference when you're cruising.

Fit a decent cat.. Btw they heat up fairly quick especially due to cold start runing rich.. YES the unburnt fuel gets burnt in cats along with other nasty gases...
When cats are hot it keeps exhaust temp high .. We all know hot gases flow faster than cooler .... Be carfeull posting illegal things as above.. It can be used in court against you....You can be traced...

I thought our long term members would set a better example, giving kids illegal advice is not condoned by AFF.
