Lowering Front X-member on MKII

I am in the process of putting a sr20det into my mkII, after a trial fit today and reading through many post on here, the way to go seems to drop the crossmember by 20/30mm.
Has anybody done this and does it affect steering/control?? the steering shaft would also be dropped to reduce angle.
i gotta admit these motors look awesome in the eski!!

I wouldn't be doing that,you will be changing all of your suspension and steering geometry,modify the sump, way easier,less head ache.
