We didnt get em.

We pretty much got around that time, a festiva, a laser and then it steps up to a large family longwheel base sedan called a falcon.

We got nothing in between worthwhile. :

Nice car... considering how crap the ordinary escort was during that time.

No idea how much it would be worth. Very specialist. I remember seeing a Escort RS Turbo at the last Gold Coast All Ford Day and thought wow, never thought I would see one of those!

I got a mate in WA was looking at importing a MK 5 Cossie about 2 years ago and he was looking at 50-60k through importers but told he could do it for about 35-40k if he did the leg work himself.

One came up on a Jap Import site recently – 1993, 50,000km white and $26,000.

I don’t know if this was the first homologation model (big turbo) or the later model (small turbo with the option of deleting the rear wing).

Looks expensive....WRX or EVO would be much better value with spares much cheaper and easier to source.

It would be rare as over here !

Poor Aussies had to make do with the rebadged Mazda 323 at the time.

What would it be worth back in the UK now ? Assuming it's still relatively rust free and in good nick probably around 5k pounds, but over here around $20k perhaps ?

Rarer than an Escort Cossie I suppose !

The Escort RS2000 2wd and 4wd models ran concurrently with the Escort Cosworth 4wd models for a few years... main difference being wheelbase as the Cossie was a Sierra underneath with stretched and pumped up Escort bodywork mounted on top !

This is the 1996 RS2000 4x4 - having said that it could be 4x2 as they were identical other than the badge externally...

I think you would have a job selling that car here. I had an XR4 Sierra which is also a very rare car in Oz and it took a long time to sell and didnt fetch very much. MOst Aussies are interested in the Australian and American muscle cars, or the very high performance Euro Fords.

i've had the pleasure of working on all english escorts as i worked as a mechanic in london for 6 years and driving 95 rs 2000 4x4 is a great buzz better than any wrx or evo. i now live in perth wa. i have seen 2 mk6 rs2000 4x4 in wa one is driven daly other sits in a garage and is not licenced. its getting harder to import cars built after1988 in to perth unless you are specialising in various models and are licenced to comply these vehicles. unless you own it for one year over seas and then personaly import it. ive also had the pleasure of seeing most escort models race in ireland in the rall of the lakes notting sounds better than a escort through mols gap. Ps if you dont know where this look up ryans rally videos or killarney rally

2 or 3 year ago you could buy mk1 & 2 2 door escorts for around $1000. but getting very hard to find now a lot have been sent back to ireland & uk but you can still find them good mk2 are making around $5000 australian dollars and ones in fair condition around $2000 rs2000mk2 are about $5000. and up a lot of 2 doors are becoming very popular on the race tracks & hill climbs here
