Ive just noticed some rather significant scratches in my Back Window. Im wondering what the best way to take them out is? Im not too sure about using ScratchX on glass?

I have the same problem on the front passenger window on my BA, thanks to my mother in law's diamond ring - some really nice long scratches which is annoyingly obvious in sunlight, but I don't think anything will get it out short of replacing the whole window.

I've heard of people using cutting compound (for paint). But i imagine it'd just make it a cloudy mess...

You can give Zaino Z12 Clear View Glass Polish a go. Go HERE to order. It's not cheap though.

The other thing you can try which is a bit cheaper is Autoglym's Car Glass Polish. You can get it at Autobarn.

Some times Autosol metal polish will do the trick. It's about $10 a tube at the Hardware store. It also works very well on perspex and watch faces. I know, I'm forever scratching my watch at work.

You can use rotary buffers on glass with products such as Poorboys SSR 1, 2, 2.5 and 3 and other glass polishes but keep the speed under 1000
Autosol ain't bad and P21s finish restorer is better
If you can't feel them with your fingernail you can get them out.

Well on closer inspection tonight I have gone ape s**t - my back window is ruined. The tinter who tinted it actually CUT the tint to size whilst it was lying on the window, leaving big gouges in the actually glass.

Needless to say, they will be getting a visit and a bill on monday.

Useless tinters, the company that does the tinting on the new cars at work are absolute idiots. They leave water stains all over the paintwork, never clean up after themselves and lots of bubbles in tint sometimes.

All done by young guys who I reckon are high on something most times
