Default New Barina

Now that the updated Barina is out I noticed they have fitted side airbags as standard and are now preaching improved safety. Yet Holden are now saying they will not have it ANCAP tested. Geez, I wonder why. The side airbags won't help you in a frontal collision when you hit the steering wheel and have your legs crushed under the pedals. Thats the reason why they scored so low in the ANCAP test for the pre facelift model in the first place, and they have done nothing to the crash structure of the vehicle to improve the dismal 2 star result. Typical Holden marketing BS. :

It's a Daewoo.

We had a Daewoo nubira Eurohatch at work - it lasted 105,000kms then it blew a head gasket, the auto box was stuffed, holes in the exhaust, cat convertor stuffed, most of the interior trim has fallen off (half of it is a cheap fabric like a curtain on the inserts) brakes were stuffed and I'm sure there's more problems I'm not remembering right now.

I feel sorry for people who buy these cars.

You're right there. I mostly see young P plate girls driving these new Barinas. I'm basing this on the fact I drive for a living and do about 2,000kms a week all over the Sunshine Coast. I could open a can of worms here on young girl drivers, but I won't.

Holden are good at marketing, what can you say?

Holden and its dealers must have an audacity to sell these things to unsuspecting buyers, particularly younger females who really should be in safer cars. Their parents should know better and advise their daughters against buying them, but unfortunately most of them are also none the wiser.

I know for a fact that if you go in there serious to buy more than one Barina (my boss got a quote on 5 for work) They will let them go at around $12,000 driveaway!

He did the same thing at Toyota for 5 Yaris' and Hyundai for 5 Getz. Toyota wouldn't budge - they wanted full price. Hyundai only budged about $500 per vehicle. Shows how desperate Holden are, but not only that, shows how cheap they can sell these cars for and still make a healthy profit.
