need advise urgent!!!!cancel paint protection on new car

I work for a dealer, and usually the paint protection etc is put on the Contract of Sale. I have never seen a seperate invoice given for these items. Just be careful that you haven't already paid for it with your deposit. You mentioned that you paid $4k deposit before, and really, you shouldn't issue a Tax Invoice without receipting some money.
Was your contract "subject" to anything? If so, then that may be your out of the whole thing.
You keep saying that you don't want out of the car contract, but as we all know, you can usually drive 20mins in any dierction and come accross another dealership selling the same cars. Surely, whatever you have bought is not so un-common that no other dealer has one!

Rule #1 - always take some one over 35 with you when looking at buying cars. It balances out the whole thing. Not trying to be smart, I heeded this advice through my youth and it was invaluable.

Secondly, the choice was yours, blame yourself not the dealership.

Thirdly, look up the information that has been provided and go talk to the dealership principal and explain your situation, the manner you so claimed to have been treated and try to allow him to resolve the issue at hand.

Paint Protection does all, viynl/leather is like armoall, electronic rust, well yeah i dont think a bit of power can stop your car rusting

most paint protection is just a 3 step polish hand applied to your vehicle. It costs no where near $3000 in fact the cost is closer to $300. I am a Dealer Principal and I do not sell it in my dealership. If you spoke to the Dealer Principal (he is the grumpy one) I am sure you will be able to work it out without going to fair trading or a solicitor. C'mon guys, give us dealers a break.....we are not all bad.

i flatly refused paint treatment , protection . on the GT . the blue eyed big ttied redhead with the mini skirt tried her best to tell me i was mad if i didnt get it . especially on a black GT.
AFTER SAYING NO AND doing a little research . this stuff is actually good for worn paint . to bring it back to a new look. not new paint . i think it is probabl the prep more so than the protectant .
anyhow . when i picked up the car . they told me they threw it in for free - get this because it was a GT. NOW I NEARLY VOMITED ON THE REP DURING PICKUP , AND WAS GOING TO REFUSE THE PURCHASE. the look of the team was shear panic . ( i'd had advice from mguires hotline . not to get paint protection.
the detailer then pulled me aside for a gentlemans chat!
he told me that to get all the marks off a black car was near impossible , so to prep a car for delivery it was far easier to wipe on this $60 bottle of paint protection, which is not much more than a premium polish, which is wipe on. then he said that after 2 months of washing it would be gone , and then the car can be polished at will.
sorry for the bad news . i hope you can get out of paying for this .

by the way i polished the car after 2 weeks .

I think I would have also. Would even consider for them not to detail it at all.

Good on you for standing up to be counted MR SIDO. However this is a classic example of a few spoiling it for the rest. As you can tell from his posts, twinkle twinkle is really stressing about this and appears to have been taken advantage of. When he raises his concerns he is more or less told to bugger off (as they have his signature on the dotted line). And this is where I think the whole dealership network falls down. Who can he complain to? Where are the dealers and manufacturers dispute resoloution process? While it is great to say see the dealer principle - how in fact does one do this?

In my case I have had two seperate situations where they were uncontactable - either by phone or mail. On the first occasion I wrote to them and the person I was having problems with was charged with responding! So we know the outcome of that one. On the other occasion with a different dealer, I was put through to the used car manager I ended up taking them to Fair Trading. Only then did I get satisfaction.

So even when complaining to the manufacturer, they are not really interested and also say go back to the dealer principle. Is it any wonder that some of us have to use Fair Trading and Solicitors to sort some of what appear to be simple problems?

they wanted me to get paint protection for my new bf and I said no because they wanted $1600. Three weeks later I got a letter in the post because they were willing to offer me a 300 discount if I chose to get the paint protection.....

The new ford white paint is cr4p. I'm just getting mine resprayed in a year from a mate who is a panel beater. For now I look after it as best I can.

I paid $1000 for my paint protection, was a great thing too.... only a few weeks after I had the car some little t****r decided to graffiti it, everything came off with no worries.

$3000 is a bit rich though....

This is the biggest plug of all car sales (tint - paint protection etc etc)
When we bought the wifes car, they plugged us so hard, we said no to all.

It is the biggest scam to push extra dollars, because you squeeze the reps out of money, they push you to by offering in a forceful way to get these overpriced items back their profit they lost in the deal.

She gave up on selling paint protection to me when i said im a detailer. Also she wouldnt give me 50% off window tints even though i only had 50% of the windows (i bought a ute)

When we bought our Mazda a couple of months back they tried to sell us the 'paint protection' crap as well, the lady wasn't too pushy thankfully. I did however take up the offer of tint - worked out only slightly more expensive than I would pay to have it done later with the same material (some high tech tint film which the maker claims is the best evar!!11). I guess the price for having it all done before I got the car.

What I did find interesting was that the paint protection literature (which I still have here I think) said you cannot wax or polish your car... EVER. : More importantly, I'd love to see what the manufacturers say about the panel warranty when you PP put on it... I dare say they'd be like "he he he no warranty on paint for you my friend!". IIRC the price for the tint they were flogging started at $1k and went up to $5k :

UGh i HATE pushy salesmen.. they practically forced the protection package on me.. went on and on and on about it. (tint, vinyl protection, fabric protection, electronic rust protection and paint protection.. worth about $3k).. Anyhow, i said "if the paint is going to fade on this car without paint protection, why should i buy the car in the first place? If i need it so bad you throw it in for free" so i ended up making them throw it in for nothing.

Same thing happened to me some years ago. I bought a near new car and agreed to the paint protection etc... later that week I found some papers in the car showing that the original owner had paid for paint protection too. I ended up going back the dealer and after considerable discussion / arguments with the dealership manager, ended up getting only half my money back.

Even the dealership manager told me that's where they make most of their money on the sale. They just upsell all the extra's too you while your there. Good luck getting out of the paint protection deal.

that has to be a new record.
i would love to know some details of the product,warrenty ,etc.

i used to sell / apply a good quality product for $275 and that was the best money maker i had from all the pruducts i sold through my workshop.


i hope you can get out of the deal ok. when i had my business i would hear so many sad stories from customers who had been caught like you. but it was good for my business in a way because most people would only get caught out once by the dealers and next time they would come to me for their protection products.

if you can get another realistic quote for the same product and show them that it might help get them to back down.

I'm an applicator for one the groups that does the aftermarket car care stuff and it really isn't worth it. The money you fork out for it is beyond a joke. The mark up on the stuff is HUGE. But then again, you're also paying for the 'insurance' of it as well.

If you did see the girl that sells the stuff, she should of showed you a scratch card with measurements on it, telling you that such a scratch will be fixed by the company that makes the protection

$3000 for paint protection? That doesn't sound like just paint protection, sounds like the whole package (paint, vinyl, fabric, underbody) to me.

As everyone has said, take it up with the Dealer Principal and sort something out. Dealerships deal with cancelations on parts all the time, they can't just say no

I got duped once, but was 'only' $900. Expensive lesson learned. Later paint repairs couldn't be done properly because the paint was so 'dead' because it had never been polished - the warranty stuff that came with it said NOT to ever polish it. So actually made the paint worse in the end.

I haven't even had anyone try to sell it too me since. The Subaru dealer tried the upsell, but was for almost usefull stuff like rear storage nets and trays (in a Awd not a bad idea) - ended up getting for half price.

Tint's not a bad option though, should have got it on the Mini - now have to go and organise myself - probably for the same price.

Reminds me of Gil in the Simpsons where he finally makes a sale on obsolete computers to the school. Buoyed by his eventual sales success he quickly adds "and you will need rust protection on these babies - they will rust up on you so quick...".

If its going to rust, fade or wear prematurely then I am better off looking at a better make of car.
