Default VicPol's latest weapon

Just spotted this in another forum, looks great (except in my rear view mirror).
For the uninitiated it's the latest Mitso Evo X (read 10).

Sorry about the thumbnails, I did it wrong.

That looks cool,

The police cars these days certainly have style.

I havnt got a pic to upload at the moment, but the W.A. Highway patrol cars - XR6 Turbos - look fantastic.

Doesnt make you feel so bad when you get pulled up!

I agree! They look so much better then interstate police, I cannot find a photo though :(

Those orange stripes make them highly visible and they look good too!

Would be interesting to see if these cars are donated. If so then they are not allowed to use them for urgent duty driving and thus defeats the purpose of having such a car. I dare say they will be as popular as the WRX's. Go alright but the small interior not really suited to carrying members, especially larger members, with all their gear etc.

The WRX's got promptly dumped because they were also quite dangerous in pursuit conditions.. some members refused to drive them because of their inability to cope with a variety of changing road conditions and unpredictable car behavior in these situations.
"If" these cars are allowed full pursuit use then they will have had to pass a much more stringent operational appraisal to get through, if not then they're just evaluation show ponies..

are these to be used for highway patrol or inner city/burb work?

color scheme would have looked better on a Commo or Ford btw

more economical than the bigger cars i suppose

300c ok id say for highway work, but Hummer?

id hate to throw the rice word in but there it goes

I am not sure where you got that information from but all the TMU members I have spoken to were quite impressed with the WRX's, describing them as go karts for handling and urgent duty driving.

My money would be on this vehicle being a donor car, just like the Monaro GTO that got around with the Melbourne TMU in 02/03. That car was done up in the all police decals etc but was not allowed to be used in urgent duty driving.

rice?? oh dear I thought that mentality had gone out the window a long time ago, it's a shame really...
Anyway on topic I really hope they don't put these things in the dandenong ranges black spur etc... Would be incredibly hard to get away from them if you were silly enough to try and outrun them

For a minute i thought that was a povo pack lancer due to the lack of projector headlamps but then seen brembos and bonnet vents. What a waste of a good car

All the ricers will be scared now because it doesn't just look like an EVO like all the Ricers' cars - IT ACTUALLY IS ONE!

Can not see how they justify that, no use as a police vehicle. Imagine trying to get in and out of that with a police belt on. Where do they keep all the body armour and other crap that fills the boot of a commodore or falcon. I have seen inside police boots stacks of times and they carry a lot of gear. One of my ways of picking an unmarked car is the fact that they always look like they are carrying a couple of bags of cement in the boot.

They always have a marketing car in VIC they've had a Z3, Z4, Monaro, 300C and obviously now a Evo

Generally they are donated because of the free publicity and the cars go to the car shows and expos and do the school runs and are a publicity and recruiting exercise.
