I think you can get it to fit, but because theres no button, the shifter clicks freely between gears, ie: the mechanism that stops you from selecting reverse without pressing the button no longer works. Therefore a lot of care needs to be taken not to bump it into reverse or into a lower gear for that matter.

The BA mechanism is different to the AU's and doesnt work on the AU.
And MGGT RAA - BA scuff plates are a direct fit in the front, rears dont quite fit.

You can adapt the BA shifter handle to work on an AU - I did it, but the bloody front button on the BA shifter is weak, and they only last about 6 months before the clip that holds them against the spring breaks. I also got one working on an E series!
I also had the full SSS BA shift mechanism working in my AU2 "XR" wagon; until i melted the outer casing on the cable, then I switched back to standard AU momo shifter. The car still has the SSS stuff in it, just nothing to activate it (wonder if I told the new owner that???). As for the momo gear - anything momo for an AU fits any AU (obviously manual gear knob doesn't fit an auto, and vice versa).

Will BA manual knob go straight on AU? Might be a dumb question?
