These can work ok, a cool intake is worth power.
Not crap at all. Cold air is more valuable than quantity of air.

I purchased both the lower and upper manifold insulators from mace, as I'm very curious to see if there is any difference.
I'll let you know how I go when it comes time to install them, which should be in a week or so. |

UPDATE:
I have fitted both the upper and lower manifold insulators to my car, and I can honestly say that there are definitely gains to be had. After I took my car for a good drive, I got back home and placed my hand on the intake manifold and it wasn't hot at all. I could keep my hand on there without burning my hands. As far as fitment is concerned, there aren't really any issues. The bottom bolts that bolt in both sides in the lower part of the intake manifold will not line up. The bracket that goes from the throttle body to the intake/head will be made redundant as the bolt holes will not line up. TIP: If you are fitting the upper insulator while the manifold is in the car, do yourself a favour and and purchase a long straight allen key to undo the bolts. Cracking and undoing bolts with loctite is rather painful with a short allen key. CONCLUSION: A very worthwhile mod. |

Is this one of those things where you have to concintrate to think there is a differance, like say a filter or the like? or is it there without even looking for it?

Nope, didn't have to concentrate to notice a difference.
It was definately there without even looking for it. |

You can get similar for the V8s, Ford fitted them to the EL GT I think they said it was worth a kilowatt & a couple of newton metres.

Oh! One more thing I forgot to mention.
The upper manifold insulator doesn't come with longer bolts. You will need to source these yourself, providing MACE have not started putting these in with the kit. The ones i used have a 13mm head instead of a 10mm head, and are high tensile. |
