Awesome car. Funny enough I was reading a copy of EVO mag about buying a used Escort Cossie or "Cosseh" as they say over in the Essex part of London.

Can you tell me which model you have complied? The later update model came with the airbags and leather seats. I believe this model Cossie has a much more street friendly turbo charger so it boosts earlier making the car more flexible on the streets.

The gigantic GT35 turbo unit in the early release cars was great for rally homologation but in the real world lag was very apparent. However its these early beasties that can be tuned upwards of 450hp.

Hi Jeff,

Are you finding rust an issue on the Escorts you are bringing in ? I'm guessing some would have arch and sills well gone by now... Non Cossie models would be near scrap at over 14 years old !

is it truth they run over 25psi standard? I have heard rumours they run ridiculous boost pressures... Yet reliably.

I havent found any rusty on the cars we bring in
In fact they must be rust free for compliance
I think they get looked after better because they are collectable

No that is not true .0-1.5 bar on overboost function, however we can run them up to even 30 PSi
They will handle it but life expectancy is deminished just like any other vehicles engine

mmm. I saw one listed on an import site about 6 months ago (from Japan?). It was listed as a Sierra but the photos were an Escort. They were advertising it as complied for the road not a race-only import.

I thought that it would be very hard to get a clean, stock example as these things seemed to be the equivalent of our VL turbos. Or did all of the ricers move on to ther things - STi's, EVO's, GTR's, etc.

If I had the money I'd have a black one, small turbo, maybe without the wing (it was optional delete on the second series).

Escort RS? $65k
Seeing the smirk drain from the face of the first GTiR driver I come across at a set of lights? Priceless.

My H reg had bits of rust in the wheel arches and that was back in 2000. In fact it was until our first winter over there that I understood why cars prematurely rusted. The Sapphire across the street had heaps more than my Escort and it wasn't much older either. Nevertheless, these things are getting rarer everyday and we are blessed to have companies here in Australia that are doing the hard yards for us EuroFord enthusiasts.

Go to the website
I could probably get an escort in from about $40K up to 60K for a really original low mileage vehicle

They are collectable so many are kept garaged and not used over winter
Many sold ther escort cosworths for Rice burners only to try and buy them back when they were dissappointed with them
Justa sk Jeremy clarkson
He owned one

Remember how someone hacksawed the spoiler off Clarkson's Escort Cossie one night whilst he had one back in '92 ?

Seem to remember it cost him 20k pounds to insure every year, which was in fact the original purchase price again. That was at the height of the insurance crisis and anyone under the age of 35 with anything badged Gti or Cossie found it impossible to get cover.

My Dad's friend had his Sapphire Cosworth stolen 3 times whilst he owned it, and that was in low crime rate sunny Bournemouth.

All basic Fords and Vauxhalls had rust at 6-7 years old, my Astra failed the MOT at 6 years due to perforated sills, and needed welding up to pass !

Aaah, the joys of salted roads....

Thanks, but i have always had a soft spot for a Cossie. Esp the 3dr sierra, even in europe they are very dear and almost impossible to insure, plus the interior is really starting to look old (in a bad way) still wouldn't mind one, just to be different
