Default Nissan Stagea turbo - opinions?

Has anyone had any experience with the Nissan Stagea turbo wagons? I realise they are based on the driveline of a R32-33 skyline and are AWD but are there any other pro's and con's about them?

Im just curious.

I would almost gaurantee that NOONE on this forum would have much of an idea what a stagea is let alone any in-depth knowledge about em.

skylinesaustralia.com is a much better bet.

From what little i know they are an awesome car, like having a GTR wagon. Just like the skylines they respond extremely well to basic mods.

I think some came out with RB26 GTR motors but theres no way youll find one here, at least for a reasonable price. Ive heard of some conversions so it aint that bad. the RB25 is a pretty great motor anyway even when paired with AWD.

In the latest issue of ZOOM there is one with an RB26 conversion and 800kw. Those things make silly power.

Stageas are awesome! I saw one in the city not long ago with a huge front mount cooler!

If I was a family man, they would be on my list!

Stagea's are great, but a few things:
1 - Expensive compared to the same year skyline
2 - Body parts, kits etc are virtually non existant in Aus, you will need them imported from Japan
3 - Grey import, concerns with the cars history
4 - Insurance would be a killer

but

1 - As you mentioned, it has the Skyline driveline so you probably have one of the most upgradable engines to work with
2 - Can anyone say sleeper?

For those not in the know :

the RB26DETT powered Nissan Stagea RS260 does the quarter mile 12.9 sec stock. Not bad for a wagon hey?

Gee, that's nearly as quick as useless's wagon! LOL.

Saw a stagea on the Parkway in Canberra about 2 months ago. Had no idea what it was until I got right up close. Lovely looking car.

Cheers for the replies guys.

I think the only issue for me with one of these is:

* The rear looks ugly
* Quite pricey still for the age.
* Body parts next to impossible to find locally
* Insurance

But other than those things they seem to have a huge amount of potential.

i'm right into the nissan/datsun scene and i have seen these wagons around alot. luxo barge sports plus they are. all the luxuries of an expensive limo and go with the right foot.

very veyr neat cars indeed. but you have to find one that hasnt had the ring thrashed out of it.

Nothing beats a Jap Import sleeper family car.
Like one guy in QLD that i have known for a while ... he has yellow EVO (9 sec 1/4mile times) ... he wife drive a Mitsu RVR Hyper Sports Gear (Nimbus on steroids) ... with a few mods ... it's literally a Nimbus with Lancer EVO III engine and running gear.

It's the family run-about and runs low 11-sec passes ... LOL

Crazy seeing a Nimbus launch and smoke all 4 wheels ... LMAO

Gotta give credit when its due...

and the Stagea is one hell of a mover ("a phat thing for a wagon" to quote danny Vahoumis) rb26 in a wagon has to be one of the best ideas to come out of Japan.

There is one advertised on prestige motorsports website a 99 model which uses the 34s driveline for $25gs

A mate of mine was looking for one a while ago but insurance was goin to screw him so he ended up buying a cefiro! (for drift of course)
