I presume your going to source the parts yourself and pay someone for the labour? Can't help you with that side of things, however be prepared to pay $2000 - 2500 alone for 2nd hand parts to suit a AU V8. I looked into it and I think I am just going to throw some 3.9 gears in the rear instead.

The thing is Im weighing up what to do. If 3.9s plus a stall is going to cost close to $2000 then it might be worth just going for the conversion. |

well yeh... diff and high stall is similar performance to manual, just worse fuel economy and it depends which one you want to drive

I have an I6, so factor that spread or torque etc with the ratios of the T5 and 3:7 gears. I find that I'm needing to shift just a little too early. I'm no whiz with ratios etc, but I'd reckon 3:9s might be too high. If it were my money, I'd be tracking down a few manual V8 owners with the stock 3:45, 3:7 and 3:9 gears and getting a feel for what ratios work best in the real world for the balance of takeoff etc and driveability. My two cents, but I reckon ensuring you get the correct ratio to the characteristics of the engine and the ratios of the box is critical. All the best with it. GK
