Default Camshaft options for 220

As the title suggests, can an AU3 xr8 220 get a more aggressive camshaft without bumping up the max RPM? Or is it pretty much on the limit already? Be interesting to know if anymore power can be squeezed out of this thing....

I too would be interested in this question.

Any other cams for the standard 220 heads and 1.7 rockers. Apparently the one in there is very mild.

kw increase will be minimal however changing the cam can dramaticaly improve torque curves. mine is nearly flat from 1800rpm to 5500rpm.

^^cam im running^^
will cause break power assist issues with a a std stalled auto needs a 2700+ stallie or vaccum tank. works fine with a manual.

Piston to valve clearance will be line ball if you run your std 1.72 rockers.
Also would pay to upgrade valve springs, Have a look on Trickflow website as i have heard they do a good spring package for ford cast iron heads.

I'm using 1.6 rockers. Pushrod length will change also.

Any cam will require a valve spring change. The stock ones aren't even up to the job in stock form and are a known issue on the 220's.

That's true. But im happy RR's dont change. Anyone care to elaborate on pushrod changes? as in what size do I need?

Ill get a vac. tank instead of new stall. Provided the cam's operating range is within the stall of course.

I am mighty tempted to change my diff gears to 3.45 too. As ive driven an EL XR8 (185kw) and that was a hoot to take off in. :

I've owned a series 2 and it had 3.45's. My parents have also owned a series 2 Xr8 and it had 3.45's as well.
