Would keep my AU, or if I couldn't probably downgrade to an I6 AU or e series..

Failing that, probably buy an old celsior, TX3 Turbo AWD, a M3, a 300c or bring over a new 'stang

FWD makes me cry...

EDIT: other option, buy a Focus XR5 turbo and convert it to AWD!

There will be no FWD Falcon on my driveway. End of story. If it comes to that I'll hold onto my BF until it dies or get into a second hand 540i.

I agree with this sentiment 100% I have 2 RWD fords and if they stop making them I will have to make sure I have enough parts to make my cars last longer than me. RWD in a BM or merc would be considered at a last resort simply because the cost of maintaining those vehicles is fairly high.

I would just follow the soccer mums and rednecks and drive a SUV. THose mongrel drivers have been blocking my view of traffic ahead in numbers so I may as well join them!

This is my direction too. Although Audi's are FWD/AWD.

I'm not into FWD anything, i've driven lots of miles in different FWD cars, including late Honda's without doubt the best of them and they do noting for me.

AWD is still a secondary preference to RWD, cost, weight, complexity, fuel consumption/emissions all work against this answer.

But I couldn't bring myself to buy a Holden. So neutral territory for me. Benz, BMW 125/135 are quick. Not cheap so maybe a 3 yr old one. Or something even further afield like a Prado or a DMax ute.
