Exclamation Victoria Beckham hired to design Range Rovers

Victoria Beckham hired to design Range Rovers

By Carole Erskine From: NewsCore July 02, 2010 8:50PM

BRITISH singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham said she was "very excited" at being appointed creative design executive at automaker Range Rover.

The new role was announced at the 40th birthday celebrations of the brand at London's Kensington Palace.

A smaller, sleeker model called the Range Rover Evoque was also unveiled at the celebrity party, co-hosted by fashion magazine Vogue.

Beckham will work on a special edition of the Evoque, and called the vehicle "absolutely stunning."

The former Spice Girls star said she was looking forward to "everything" about the collaboration, and added, "I don't know where to start ... It's an incredible opportunity I've been given. I'm very excited."

The Evoque will go on sale summer 2011 and was marketed as the "greenest" Range Rover yet.

Wearing a shimmering champagne-colored dress and sporting a sleek beehive hairstyle, Beckham told those gathered for the garden party: "I like to take on a challenge and I'm ready for it.

"I am honored to take on this role and be part of the creative team."

Land Rover and Range Rover design director Gerry McGovern said of his newest coworker, "She knows a lot about fashion and a lot about trends, a lot about luxury products."

Can we get Nic or Elle to design the Falcon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I beleive she had her twin bags removed, so I guess new posh designed models are likely to get a lower star rating..... I mean safety rating....

And less weight. An anorexic RR should get under 2000kg.

And here I was thinking that Range Rovers sounded awesome. Now can you imagine? They'll probably end up sounding cockney and horrid. Could be worse, they could sound like Beckham............. "Pupsi".

Its just a marketing ploy to attract a certain demographic. Like Moffat being appointed FPV ambassador.

Great, it will just end up a range rover that has paint that does not quite cover its panels, skinny tyres that are meant to replicate a great set of pumps and will be dripping in bling.

Why did the car designed by Homer Simpson immediately pop into my head when I read this?

You never know...she may just surprise everyone and design a great car.

At least the Range Rover will have enough seats for the Beckhams and the nanny. Becks might just leave Victoria at home home though lol.

Obviously BMW see gormless sluts with zero taste as a new target market . Who said all publicity was good publicity ?

Geez Louise they won't actually allow her anywhere near a drawing board , they too must have seen that episode of the Simpsons if shes lucky she'll be shown fabric swatches and may pick a trim . But given her taste in everything else in life do BMW really want to make a Range Rover Pimpmobile ?
