Default I think the lines are becoming a little blurred

Is this a classic muscle car? I like them with a nice tough engine in them, 6 or 8 and could possibly make it cool cuiser but.
Or Might i be just a judgemental idiot http://www.fordmusclecars.com.au/vie...sp?itemID=6361

This 1981 Cortina has a great engine, only 180,000 km's on the clock!!!! It really has some grunt. Body straight, but starting to show a little rust. Transmission needs help, and needs alternator. Has new battery. Recently passed blue slip. I brought it from a friends grandfather. 1 owner, with fuel log's. Great for restoring.
Well...yes...um...yep.

It may not be classic, but it's old enough to be Old School.

The link won't open, but if that's a 4.1 litre Cortina, that's definitely a muscle car - Those things were absolute weapons (even if the motor mags called them lead-tipped arrows)...

It is.

I don't see the part where he claims it is a muscle car. Just because it is posted on fordmusclecars.com doesn't mean he thinks it is.

using the original musclecar term, I'd say no.
no to a wagon (no matter how fast)
no to a standard 6 (no matter how good the PTW ratio)
no to a car never designed to be a muscle car
no
no
no

Jimmyd yours is a classic!

I have never owned one, but its always been a car i aspire to own!
A few people I have known have owned them in the past and they loved it.

As for turning corners..... my XB can turn corners, as long as i throw the anchor out the window 100m before the corner and brace myself.

My grandparents bought two of those cortinas when new, a lightish blue x-pak and a white ghia. They were the 4.1 ones and seemed to go hard. The x-pak one looked awesome, it had wire mesh headlight protectors, nicer wheels etc. and looked pretty tough.

Cortina muscle car? only if it's got the Lotus badges.

And the nice Escort up there just misses... The original RS 1800 (round headlights etc) beats it....sorry

I agree. How many people read the trading post? Lot of stuff for sale in that, it's not there for only trading items.

I'm sure it started life out a site for selling Muscle Cars but has evolved into a site for selling all types of cars. They have a clever web site name which draws people in thinking they are going to see Muscle Cars for sale. And obviously in this case it worked.

A TC or TD with the "power bulge" bonnet and the 250 would be the closest after the mk1 & mk2 gt cortinas as a *cough* muscle car
