Default Starter Button

Hello all,

Does anyone know if the BA/BF Starter buttons can be adapted to suit an AU Falcon, as I would like to install one into my AU.

I saw that FTG Auto Salvage did some kits a while back that suited E series and I think AU as well, so what is actually involved to make them work to suit an AU, is it easy to make yourself?

Any info is appreciated.

Brett

Shift kits aus sell a kit for a starter button. Don't know of anyone that has one on these forums (possible there is tho)

i have one one of their shift kits and their quality is pretty good. Id say these guys are your best bet.

PM JC, he's installed a few in his time, including in the XR8 he recently sold.

I PM'd FTG a week ago and he said they don't have anymore and apparently won't be making any more either, would have been good to get one of those kits.

I will do a search on your thread JC as well, but the shift kit australia items looks the goods as well.

I put one in my Au about 5 or 6 years ago, purchased a snazzy button off ebay, center black with chrome surround for about 15 dollars delivered. Cut a small hole in dash, found and wired it as an interruption to the start wire, haven't had a prob with it this whole time. Just because companies sell a kit doesn't mean you cant do it your self for a fraction of the cost. Give it a go your self, you will be surprised how easy it is.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is good about a starter button?
Wouldn't it just make starting slower and more cumbersome?

Your right, not good for anything other than the novelty of it. You still need the key, you still need to turn it then push the button. I don't drive my XR all that often and usually forget the button is there, but it pleases me to push a button to start the car, and at the end of the day if I get a little bit of joy from pushing a button to start my car, then the whole experience of going for a drive is that little bit more pleasurable.

Push button start would be a neat little party trick.
My question is can you still start it with the key?

Depends on how you wire it. When I installed mine (2 different XRs), both times I used a switch to flick between key start and button start. Why? because I could.......

Wiring diagram is in this link:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...0&postcount=31

And a pic of the button I used in the red XR8 (RGs old one).
