Was at the Mudgeeraba Swap today and spotted this Falcon crew-cab.
Obviously for sale if anyone's interested. |

It actually doesn't look too bad. The tailgate is a bit plain, but other than that its not a bad effort.
How much did they want for it? |

It would be an interesting prospect for me if it had more ground clearance. I suppose RTV suspension would fix that. Pity about the colour as well.
Damn kids mean my next ute will need more seats. |

I followed a White one of these down Napper Rd, Arundel (here on the Gold Coast) in March last year and managed to snap a picture quickly while at the lights. I only got to see it from the back, but it looks just like that one above (even with the Ford embossed into the tailgate) but it has different rego (newer plates) and of course it was White. It also had Falcon badge with a Series II badge under it on the left side of the tailgate.
I can post the pic if anyone wants me to? Maybe there's someone out there who's done a few of these builds out of wagons? As soon as I saw it, I thought 'what a mad idea' I remember seeing an older E series made into a dual cab ute running around on the Gold Coast a few years ago. It had Vic rego though. If the company doesn't make things, people make their own I guess. Very cool. I wouldn't mind one in Shockwave.

Just imagine if Ford went ahead with this concept they had (back in 2000).

There is a mob here on the cost who does these as I have sold them a few ex govt wagons to convert. Thier name however eludes me atm.

If it did well it would have continued. It probably wasn't financially viable to go to the VE which would have caused it to be canned.

I feel the Crewman failed because the back seat was a joke and clearance was an issue.

In the end I think the billion dollar VE platform didnt lend itself well to a half-chassis cut. Also they thought they had 30,000+ Pontiac sales a year to keep them occupied in the factory. I didnt know this but the Crewman had a 2.5tonne towing capacity, I didnt realise Holden had certified it above the 2.1tonne rating of the normal ute and one-tonner. |

I also heard that the tax office didn’t help as they wouldn’t recognises it as a commercial vehicle, something along the line that when all 5 seats were filled the load carrying capacity was too low to be called a Ute as such, same as a wagon.

Crewmans were extremely popular for Victoria Police. Only a handful of them left in the fleet.
