The EVOS concept is Focus based, and the next model Taurus will be totally different to the current one, being on a different platform to the current Taurus.
I can't see how you can come to any conclusion as to what a future Falcon will look like on an old, soon to be replaced Taurus. The EVOS apparently will provide some styling elements for the next Falcon apparently though. |

Taurus will not be Falcon. There are no plans to turn Falcon into the current generation Taurus.
Don't forget that the current Taurus is actually bigger than a Fairlane, with the ride hight of a Territory. It would probably sell in single digits.

I was surprised that the FG mkii or what ever the new one will be called didn't look more like the new Taurus. J Mays hinted the new update would have a global connection and if you look at not only the Taurus, the Evos, the mad max intercepter concepts and the update n the Territory, there is a common connection around the headlights and upper grill. Falcon doesn't connect with the headlight and grill arrangements of the others.

I like the site in terms of how it markets it's product. I guess if they use the term 'best in class' it must be correct. I also like how they compare to the competition in their short spiels.
Tow limits seem a little low on the larger cars?? 1000 pounds? Even a Fiesta is rated to tow more? |

I like the new Taurus, even though it looks like a Chrysler..
And as for the concept I wont get too excited, as we all know Ford never release concept cars..

I can't stand the thought of a FWD falcon. If it happens I'll have to switch to another RWD saloon like a BMW or Merc.

As others have said I don’t believe we will be seeing a Falcon become Taurus anytime soon, but what we are likely to see is an all new global model design underpinning for Falcon and possibly Territory that will also be shared with other overseas models and potentially other brands dare I say it.
This all new Falcon replacement will have significant Australian design and engineering input and like the new Ranger benefit from globally developed componentry, technology and sales distribution. Some will love this, many will hate it but one thing is certain is that the current situation is not sustainable. It seems inevitable that FordAU are unable to continue to develop a model profitably and competitively in isolation that can keep up with consumer demands, global standards, government standards and technologies. And yes I believe Commodore is in the same boat. That is why the Cruze is there and so important to the company. It maybe the end of an era in many respects, but it’s also the dawn of a new beginning.

I am of the belief that 'vee-eight' and 'rear-wheel-drive' will no longer be in the Falcon vocabulary come 2016...and I can live with that.
I can see a situation where we have a CD4-based FWD drive all 4 cylinder medium car line-up (Mondeo/Fusion) with an all-wheel-drive CD4-based Falcon large-car range with V6's and Twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 for the high-performance range; a similar situation to where the Toyota Camry with a 4-cyl is classified as medium car and the same car (albeit different styling) with a V6 (Aurion) is classified as a large car. I can see the tag-line now: 'THE ALL-NEW ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE FALCON - GET A GRIP ON THE FUTURE!'
