small parking spaces are getting more & more common... anyone tried short term parking at sydney airport?, never go anywhere, but i'm the regular airport taxi for family & friends, some real tight parks there

but since i get up early for work...that relates to still getting up early for weekend shopping, and shopping like a dedicated bachelour means i spend more time in the bottle shop than in shopping centre car parks.
i still park the shiny pride & joy far off from the doors, and short manly shopping trips mean it's usually left alone

I love Pram Parking....

3200mm wide spots, and I have my son out the back as an excuse....

Parking spots are not getting smaller and smaller.

Australian Standard Min Dimensions are 2400mm x 5400mm. These days designers are taking advantage of this minimal size to fit more in, hence the smaller feel when you park.

The amount of people I witnessed parking in the parents with pram spots whos kids are 8 or older really annoyed me. I don't see a problem with parents with prams getting a slightly bigger spot much like disabled spots but there is no policing of it so anyone can park in them with out an issue, so there is no point to them.

I agree with others and believe the general motor public are now just lacking seemingly basic skills. Reverse parking used to be part of the practical driving test in QLD to get your licence, Is this still the case?

I know years ago when I was a pizza delivery driver, many of the other drivers refused to park in a spot unless they drive threw it and most couldn't even reverse park if there lives depended on it. Its like people have forgotten that there is more to driving then pointing in the directing they want to go and putting there foot down

The local supermarket near where I live is in clear contravention of the minimum width rules and it really, really gets up my nose. If I park either of our large cars within the white lines indicated by the space, believe me it only just fits and if there is another large car parked next to you there is grossly inadequate room to open you door with the net result that door damage is such a frequent thing they decided to hang signs everywhere reminding customers that the supermarket will not be liable in any circumstances whatsoever for damage done to vehicles while in their carpark !! The gall of them !!.
My wife also thinks the car parks are incredibly small and that's with her Honda Civic so she now goes to a different supermarket. The odd time I have to duck-in and pick something up quickly from the local one I simply take up two of their carparks knowing they won't have time to get a tow truck in. If they won't accept legal liability for damage done due to their grossly inadequate car parks, I refuse to be bound by their white lines indicating the right place to park, I think that's fair.

The rest of the time at other places I'm as paranoid as anyone here about where I park, always looking for big wide carparks, on the end of a row with only one quality car beside me, (takes extra time but its worth it in my opinion).

I hate car parks....great thread for venting and I feel much better now

I agree, this is PC gone absolutly mad. No such preferential treatment exists in New Zealand and I hope it never does.

hhmm, the reason we bought a corolla for the mrs, if someone dings it at the shops, its still a pain but it has the crapolla factor and can deal with it. If it was a nice Falcon or similar i would go nuts with the stress lol.

I think its either
-dont go to the shops,
-take the risk with your nice car,
-or get a dunga.

Its sad but thats the way it is
