So with young kids and obviously growing over the years , a small 4 pot would fit the criteria over the next coupla years ???
IF it was me , id be looking at something a touch larger, maybe LPG if economy is high on the agenda,than a squeeze box 4 pot Friend has a mazda little thing , and im glad 4 of us can only handle short distances in it,and ya flat out sticking 2 cartons of beer in the thing called a boot So from a growing family side , id be looking LPG larger size 6 cylinder Economy on any thing, depends how much right foot, nail anything an itll use the juice I know time is the issue, but id be making time to try a few out |

Recommendations that will meet your criteria depending on your preference to size;
Large - AU Fairmont Ghia with LPi conversion Intermeadiate - Hyundai Sonata - 2.4 for best economy, v6 for extra poke - both will run rings around Camrys for ergonomics and dynamics Small - Mazda 3 Best of all - no one would steal 'em..... |

Thankyou for the suggestions.keep them coming as yous have added a few to my list that wasnt previouslly their.
Im currently looking today at liquid injection gas falcons. Is a ba with liquid a better option than a bf egas.one is a ba futura and the other is a egas bf.both similar price with the ba having slightly less kms. Ill look into the mazadas tomorrow a little more. Sorry for grammar with posting but as im now on a phone using capitals etc is a pia lol.not usually this lazy. The last poster,yeah im giving the commodores a miss and looking at falcons and four cyls for her.The beauty about the falcon is i may have enough left for a xval three custom tune for her.more grunt and economy and i have a spare set of mags laying around. |

Mazda 6 is a pretty good car actually and if you like the smaller Japanese the Lexus IS2000 can be found under 10K now great car there actually with all the toyota reliability
Would stay away from the magnas and VZ commys, im not sure about the 3800 but the older ones although great cars had a appetite for head gaskets like the VZ 3.6, not that expensive to fix yourself though if you dont mind getting under the hood but labour is a big killer in that repair As its a family car did you consider the territory? its a great car safe and easy to fix like the falcon some RWD guys claim around 10L/100 but i have a AWD ZF and a heavy foot and usually dont get better than 18L in the traffic. With enough hunting you could get a 04 TX RWD for around the 10K mark ive seen em at that but not that often. good luck mate

I'll back bossxr8 on this one - the tiida is terrible. drum brakes, lap only centre rear seatbelt, weird ride, bizarre electonic throttle. I'd take an N16 S2 pulsar over a tiida any day.

Look for an Au3 Fairmont and add LPi to it. If you need more space then as has been said a 2004 TX RWD Territory and add LPi to that!

Mazda 6's are a nice vehicle ... but PULP only.
Mazda 3 is the better choice here ... only 30mm shorter ... 3kw less as well due to running on Normal ULP.

I like AWD Magnas.
But do a Carsales search for the criteria you are after and get the most appealing option, that's what I'd do.. You can get very very specific in Carsales search and you can narrow it right down.

I was going to mention Honda Legend but I can't find one in SA for around the $10,000 mark
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...2000-11637812? That sort of gives you the idea there. |

Well we have found a pearler.
2002 VX CALAISS11 with liquid gas injection just installed worth 5500.It has a low km gen111 in it.Comes with factory sunroof,leather,hsv sat navigation.Its a hbd calais.Full history,better nik than my ba all round.got it for 10k. Thanks for all the opinions but the gas falcons either had rust in boot ect or were just plain average joe condition at best.this calais is absolutely mint.other half is wrapped.seems to go well for a stocky also. Now to get my uncle to do an edit on her.... |

Well done - sounds good. Be interested in how the liquid injection performs and how much gas it uses. Enjoy the new ride. |
