Just imagine! The Focus sedans called Escort, with a flared out Mexico ralley pack! God help us. That would be cool!

The problem would be that it would inevitably end up a front wheel drive.

Base it on a shortened mustang platform :-)

Mustang for America, and Escort for EU...

Australia gets both

Ford Europe had FWd Escorts since the early 1980s and Ford NA called the Mazda based Lasers "Escort"

Indeed, it was a sad time for the Escort.

Nikked has the right idea though

D2C is already a cut and shut of DEW98, i dont think you can make that smaller all that smaller other than trimming overhangs.

Only the tiniest piece of DEW exists in Mustang as the foot wells, everything else was changed..

Apparently, a surprising amount of weight that can be extracted from Mustang's D2C shell..

I dont like the wheels rednering, the normal red one looks a lot better.

In the 80's when ford could do no wrong leading sales charts and winning Aus design awards and holden was seen as the brand that could do no right did you guys complain?
No, people didn't complain, we didn't have Ford Forums to come onto to bag Fords out.

if Ford Australia start putting interesting ideas out in the public people will find something they like.
they have to give something for the media to report about, it doesn't have to be true just give the buying public something to think about.
It wasn't really that hard to make the Monaro though was it, it was just a 2 door Commodore basically, this Torana abortion would require massive funding to get it to production here.

FYI I was on HDT facebook the other day and they have started putting together design ideas for an HDT kit. Now that woul dbe cool. Sorry, but it would! A big fat exposed bolt flare kit with a reversed bonnet scoop and SLR/6000 (for the 6L) or 6200 (for the 6.2) would be special.

And again, it would sell its tits off.
I can just picture the mullett making a serious comeback.

Now I. Boggles the mind how in the thriftiness rage these days... more people aren't making MX5 competitors.

The Lotus Elan is what we need to look to for inspiration.

Cruze is certain for local production, they are making a killing on the very cheap to make Cruze, many variants are being sold over the $32,000 mark - more than the fleet price of a Commodore. Holden wants to start making Cruze wagon here too rather than import it from Korea.

You took my post out of context, that was intended as a tongue in cheek alternate reality scenario..
