the call came & i went to see it.. brought the plates & owners manual too & when i pulled up i saw my old xt not restored as he said, but resprayed red, all trip & chrome gone except for bumpers & grille, white interior with xa buckets, the original dash & facia was also painted spray pack white!
thing looked terrible... then he has the nerve to say .. did u find the plates & owners book? cause i'd love to have them to keep it original!!!
ah no was my answer,... the books at home in a frame next to a pic of the car before the accident, the plates are on my current car..
So you made an agreement and then backed out because you did not like how they modified THEIR car? And you think that they had "the nerve"....

Here is the pic from the advert... kinda regret getting rid of it now!! Nice to see it hasn't changed and is still in good nick (on the outside at least!)

Fro what i can understand the deal was once it was restored the plates and book would b given back, and it sounds like it was not restored and the deal was not kept by the buyer

YEP!
after all, nothing of the original car was left so what difference does the plates or book mean at that point given it was a standard 500 to begin with?
btw.. this was after he proudly told me he had binned the original working am radio & all the straight trim work

I have a few of these stories.

I sold a mint el fairmont 5.0 with all bolt on mods and diff gears, 18 inch rims. An old guy bought it said he just loved it.

One night IM on the great western highway in my LTD 5.0 with same bolt on mods. Then alongside at the lights my old el fairmont rolls up with two Youngs guys driving and p plates on it. I could have tried to take my old car off at the lights!!

I have exact same mods to my ltd but he had 3.45 diff gears. The guys floored it off the lights and I just rolled off. I loved seeing it off at full noise and chirping on takeoff.

Another time I sold a v8 NC2 fairlane ghia on a Friday Arvo and had to go away for work on the Monday morning. Arrived at airport at 5am in a cab and my old fairlane was there dropping people off at the airport new owner happy as can be.
