Why do you day that?

Dealers sell cars to people not the manufacturer.

It is a rather clever marketing idea that someone came up with, kudos to them.

Maybe Metro realised that "someone else should fix this", an attitude FAR to common even on this forum, will not work and "I will fix this" is a more successful methodology.

I am just wondering how many on here who own FGs have let others drive them or even taken people (not just their best mate or family) for drives to show off just how good these cars are?

Promoting the Ford Falcon is not just someone else's problem...

Maybe cause Metro only sold 40 new cars last month they have decided they need to get serious.

You're missing the point T,
National campaign - through dealers and social media - win a 3-day test drive of Ecoboost and stay at a luxury resort.
Instead of 30 second ads costing $10,000 a time,, Ford PR chould coveri the promotion to dealerships thereby achieving better
coverage through reaching ALL dealerships and getting the social network really abuzz...all at a fraction of television advertising.

I've entered as well.

I like Metro Ford. I didn't buy my car off them (I would have if they'd had one) but they do my servicing. Great bunch of people.

No I am not missing the point.

I have no interest in going to a luxury beach resort as a prize, I live in one.
The majority of Australians would not care about this as it would be difficult to do.

Who provides the car and holiday and how does the winner from Bedourie or Coober Pedy get to the car pick up point? This 3 day becomes a 9 day adventure just to test drive a car?

This is a really good localised promotion which would appeal to urban city people.

You really should investigate the cost of advertising. In the current economy 30 second ads on Ch 7 cost between $30 and $50 unless you want them in the middle of X-Factor or whatever.

Metro Ford are advertising more than the car, they are also advertising METRO FORD.

Again......why is it always someone else must do something......

You're kidding? Which Australian doesn't like a freebie?? I know I do for sure! And I also know I don't enter competitions if I've got no chance of getting to the destination by myself for the right price e.g. winning tickets for a movie in Sydney when I live in Brisbane.

And I, like most Australians do not live in a luxury beach resort. So it would be nice to unwind at someone else's expense. Actually I even thought it was awesome when I won some free tickets to the V8's at QR.

I'm wondering if flappist will ever let us stay at his beach resort?

So what you are saying is that any advertising that promoted something that was difficult for you to do would be wasted.......

This is exactly what I am saying.

Metro do their promotion for Brisbane and someone else does one for their local area rather than a national campaign that targets everyone and hits nobody.

Do you think people who live in Maroochydore would be keen on a weekend in Maroochydore?
Would you like to win a weekend in a motel just up the road from your house?

Metro are trying an idea. If it works then I suspect it will be replicated, if not then it was not a squillion dollar waste.

Yeah but not for the people who are able to enjoy the prize.

I'd be happy to win a weekend at a motel down the road with a free car to use. I'm also happy to win movie tickets. A win is a win.

Metro Ford is a local Brisbane Ford dealer, not a national one. So therefore it will be people that have 'liked' their page who would naturally enter. Plus those who have been told about it like on this site and who are able to use the prize.

That's the same target audience who would likely buy a car from them. Metro seem to want Brisbane people to try/buy the Ecoboost Falcon. Good on them I say.

Edit, never mind.

Light bulb,
I wonder if Ford does support to a degree by offering the Ecoboost to dealers
at significant discount, giving them room to try some promos of their own...

Ford needs interesting and novel ways to promote Falcon instead of giving it over to
conventional advertising channels, maybe money is better spent at the grass roots
and by thinking differently, we've become so engrained into must have TV ADS to survive...
