Default AU V8's

What is the difference of the v8's throughout the Au model range.
Interested in difference of the utes eg: xls versus xr8.
Is the xr8 the same motor just hotted up by tickford or is there a fair bit of difference between motors.
Is it worth hotting up the base model, or should I start with the xr8.

Cheers

Thanks for the link, I tried searching but the keywords were too short eg. xr8 au, xls.
Thanks
