Hi guys, I've just upgraded to an AU III Futura, coming from a VP Berlina... and I'm now im sold.. Ford rocks :hihi:
Anyway, the car is Narooma Blue, and being the rather paranoid sod I am, I have taken off the Tickford badges - rather I do it carefully than some idiot with a screw driver. I took off about 0.05mm of paint, but was very dissapointed to see the touch up paint i applied to be a rather cloudy blue.. not shiny at all :( Shook the paint quite well for a few minutes.. anyone else had a problem with Ford touch up paint? Or is it just me.. inept eh? Thanks guys. |

Ford touch up paint isn't exactly the best colour match, especially with Narooma Blue being a metallic as well.

ah.. perhaps an aftermarket brand from Autobarn etc might be a better choice?

just got some paint mixed at autobarn, hopefully it'll be a bit better.. they said it contained a lot of pearl. |

i got a can from supercheap auto of regency red and it matches alright.. i wouldn't use touch up paint for anything more than stone chips though. How did you remove the badge? Theres a way to remove them without damaging the paint.
1. Heat with hairdryer 2. run fishing line behind badge to remove 3. use metho or eucalyptus oil on a tissue to remove excess glue from car. |

first, soaked it in degreaser to weaken the bond of the gluey compound, then ran a fishing wire through it... like i said, it took about 0.05mm of paint off.. hardly worth bothering about unless you're a perfectionist..

you forgot one method glenn,
3. Leaving your car at a shopping center car park for 15 minutes should do the job nicely! LOL  out: on the subject of touch up paint.. I had my spray painter guy stick some paint from the mix he had for the body kit into a container and it works REALLY WELL! you cant see the mismatch at all! |

You wont get touch up paint for Narooma Blue off the shelf that is any good.
It has a pearl in it witch requires it to be cleared after applied so it gloss'. Best bet as sfr rob said is to go to your local spray painter and get them to mix some, alot better but still not spot on... |

Yeah, werribee plaza is a good place to lose badges... and wheels..
The stuff autobarn mixed for me is actually quite good, very impressive. Never gonna get perfect results from touch up paint, but the autobarn stuff is bloody close. |

Ill vouch for autobarn paint being good as well. Mine metallic and it came up real nice.
