Seven has never had the enthusiasm that Ten had as far as i can tell, sooner broadcast old AFL than a live V8 race.
I don't know why the FTA channels don't support HDTV. I heard Seven was going to drop HD so they could run an extra SD channel in the saved space.

It's good for people who don't have HD televisions ( yes they do exist ) and who haven't got to see the past few rounds except in highlights, so try not to be so selfish.
As for the format hd/sd I'll be buggered if I can see the difference . I will be there but I will watch it afterwards too. GT450 |

Hopefully I might get to watch some of this round over the weekend.

I can't notice any diff between HD and normal TV other than the volume is louder.
I prefer Channel 7 over 10 as the V8 Supercars have never had this much coverage that Channel 7 has been showing. And besides, I bet Channel 10 will just show it on 10 so it won't be in HD either. Just like they've done with the F1. And they will show less again just like they've done with the F1.

None of this years races have been transmitted in HD even though they are on 7mate. Pretty disgraceful that we get such little content in 2012. Back in 05 there was better HD content on FTA. For those that cant tell the difference that own a HD telly then either your blind or havent watched a real hd source on it yet to see the difference.

You have to have a full HD TV to know the difference.
If you can't see any difference, you may just have a Digital TV, and does not have the extra definition. A HD set-top box will let you watch HD channels on any TV, but unless the TV can produce full HD you won't see the better quality picture. |

I do have a full HD 1080p TV.
All programs look better when screened on the HD channels, especially reruns of classic TV shows in 4:3. I think this to do with compression. But of course you can tell between a show which has been unscaled as opposed to a show which actually is HD. |

Old films and lots of TV shows were recorded on film. Film has a higher definition than TV. When the old stuff is digitalized from film, you get a better picture to view on your new HD TV.
Old analog TV just couldn't reproduce the quality that was in the original recording. 'Old' film still has higher definition than current digital images. Digital cameras/video are just so much more useful. |
