Concept car has a built-in digital projector so motorists can take the movies with them.
Smart ForStars projector A car company is trying to recreate the magic of the drive-in by fitting a movie projector to the bonnet of a new concept car. The Smart Forstars concept car has a built-in projector in the bonnet of the car that can beam images on to nearby walls, meaning you can essentially turn your garage into a very private two-seat cinema. There are even externally mounted speakers that allow “the drive-in cinema experience to be perfected for friends as well”. The media player for the projector is operated via Bluetooth from an iPhone. A high-quality sound system with additional loudspeakers in the ventilation openings behind the doors pipes the sound outside of the car. Advertisement The car also has a camera at the back for reverse parking, which works by displaying an image on to an integrated Apple iPhone that slots into a dock where the rear-view mirror usually sits. The phone also acts a Bluetooth-linked remote control for the projector. While the cinematic reference has some cred, Smart says the Forstars name has actually been given to the car because of its full-glass roof. The chunky styling of the Forstars “Sports Utility Coupe” could offer a hint at a potential mini SUV from the Mercedes-owned brand to rival the likes of the Mini Paceman (pictured above) and a new rugged-style version of Volkswagen’s Up. The car will debut at the Paris motor show later this month. Read more about the Smart Forstars concept. Awesome...relive the old days at the drive in by parking in the backyard, projecting it on the wall, and steaming up the windows...
