Went out to the 2012 Muscle car masters yesterday and what a fantastic event good weather ,great racing and the quality of cars both racing and static was very impressive . Was also told that there were 2000 more people at yesterdays event compared to the V8 Supercar circus the week before, so well done to all involved.
It really is good value for the dollars charged for the entry and the access to everything was great as well. The Touring car masters racing is so good with a great mix of cars that I wouldn't be surprised if they will become the main draw card to future V8 supercar race meetings. |

price wise it was good, pit access is great
the track itself is crap for spectators, NO bigscreens, and if there was a crash no-one got to see it plus one of the volvo ambulance cars (the wagon) almost took out my fiance so i pushed her out of the way and the car ran into me in the pits and i fell on the bonnet and passenger mirror....hopefully i broke it off but the car took off. was going to make a complaint but i thought they would turn it around on me and kick me out of the event. plus the parking was poorly managed and for people who didn't know the area parked in no parking zones all around no realising there was parking and shuttle busses available near the dragway i'll give it a miss next year

Agree with ebV8, the parking was a total joke! Parking at the drag strip and then wait for a shuttle or walk, a long way. The main front gates, ever since the place was opened, were locked shut with NO signs anywhere. Unfriendly sarcastic gate people where we entered. $5 for a 450mL Coke, about par I suppose but still a rip off imo. ***** PA system that didn't work correctly. Closed toilet block at the top of the track, really poor facilities for the fans imo. If there were 2000 people more than the V8SC then motor racing in Sydney is doomed. It may be a good track to drive on but to spectate at, its crap. BTW I was amused that people in shorts were permitted in pit lane.
Apart from that the racing was great. The Touring Car Masters are so much fun to watch, just love them. Bummer about JBs wheel falling off in the last race. |

The race where the Mini and the Mustang were at each other for 1st and 2nd was great to watch.
Its a pleasure to see these cars racing. There wasnt as many trade stands this year, probably a sign of the times. Food was overpriced rubbish as usual. Take your own food its the best option. |

Yep the Mini and Mustang battle was a cracker! I had forgotten how small the old minis are compared to the fatty new ones

Yeh their tiny but fast, if the Mustang wasnt just behind or beside the mini at the start of the second last straight then the Mini was strong enough to block the Mustang. Both of them drove really well, put on a great show.

I didn't make it this year, but i've been the past few years and there has always been ample parking at the back of the circuit through the rear gates on the grassed hill areas. Last year i parked no more than 100m from the Tunnel.
Have they changed this ? |

Racing, facilities and spectacle were all great. I used the free parking and shuttle bus with 4 kids (including a 7 month old in a pram) in tow with no drama. Buses were very regular.
My only criticism is where the show n shine on the hill was crap. It was situated on a dusty hillside and looked like a goat track. It was also very user unfriendly for prams/wheelchairs. This event is good enough to be televised. |

Shuttle bus etc was o/k ..
We just didn't know where to go etc.. I go there often enough !! WSID especially.. There needs to be a stand up on the hill over most the track.. The Kiwi cars where great too...

I flew down from the Gold Coast just to watch it. The racing was great, access to the pits and paddock was first class (other event organisers could learn something). Caught up with some old Sydney racing mates and had a talk with Peter McKay who had the task of peddling a new Lexus LFA around for a demo. Seeing one in the flesh ... its a stunning car.
But have to agree with others about the parking ... as I approached in my renter, a flashing sign said "prepaid go left". So I went left and got into a queue that moved half an inch in a day . After half an hour of this I got out and asked the guy behind where this was heading and it turned out my Hyundai renter was in a queue with the "small fords club" heading towards their display, so I stopped and parked on the side of the road and hoofed it into the circuit. |

After all its a historic race meeting. It just makes the experience more authentic. No big screens, dodgy PA, no toilets, lack of merchandise stands, people in shorts in the pit lane, great racing & you can actually touch the cars & chat to the drivers without having to reach into your pocket everytime you turn around
The parking was a bit all over the place & was better organised in the past, but I had no problems with the bus & I thought it was a great idea, beats walking. Overall I had a ball & will go again, cant say the same for the supercars. Here are a few pics from the day. The rest are here http://s1092.photobucket.com/albums/...012/?start=all |
