Just got some news Ranger will go up to a maximum towing capacity of 3500kg on 4x2 High Ride and 4x4 from November production onwards. Good news.
Try again Colorado..

I think iv read somewhere 3500kg is the max possible for this category of car.
If its a paper change (which id imagine it would be) wonder if it will be possible to get the older utes updated.

Sorry guys I don't know how this works on current build Rangers, I'll try and find out for you
 All Ranger 4x2 Hi-Rider and all Ranger 4x4 models will have the following product changes: • The maximum braked towing capacity will increase from 3,350kg to 3,500kg. • The maximum Gross Combination Mass (GCM) will increase by 50kg from 5,950kg to 6,000kg • The maximum allowable towball download will increase from 335kg to 350kg
