Liquid Silver XR6 Sedan - which rims would you fit.
I tried to make a poll of it but I am technically dyslexic at the moment. Silver /Chrome - nice Gold / Chrome - looks good Black / Chrome - Ok Black / Black - like it but does it suit

What look are you going for Vinnie? Classy look or tough look? Imo for a street fighter look go black or classy, go for gold
cheers, Maka

I was originally after a set of Adult sized "Mini Lites". I spoke with the bloke that made them but he said he only makes them for pre AU off sets and will not make them for AU onward.
Next thing I saw a set of mini lites on a "LA" Lancer, light Grey, both in Silver on Chrome and Gold on Chrome. To me the Gold really set the lancer off. Looking through the AU builds section since I have been an AUvian, someone had a white AU with a set of Speedy Cheetahs on them and looked spectacular. My AU presently has the Black mini weather shields and black bonnet protector. So I was originally thinking about the all black rim. I could not decide between it and the Gold / Chrome rim so I thought who better to ask than the Forum. Maka, mechanically my AU is close to being perfect, body wise, I guess to answer your question, TOUGH till all the panels are fixed and painted after it's encounter with the drunken women and lumps of concrete then the classic look when the panels are done. Cheers Vincenzo

I like the tuff look & classy look, imo go for the look that stands the test of time, something that wont look dated down the track cheers, Maka

I'm saying go all black. I've had 2 different black cars with black rims and a chrome lip, they both looked alot smaller than the actual rim diameter because of the contrasting chrome lip.

Thanks to all those who read the thread and took the time to answer. I was kinda hoping for an overwhelming majority but with only 12% between the least favoured and the most, voting was close. Guess I will just have to see what happens when the time comes.
Cheers and thank-you Vincenzo

All black ... with a bit of dish.
Actually there was a nice Lightning Strike FG just posted up in the show us your FH thread ... and had a set of nice 5-spoke black rims ... and it actually stood out nicely. Not an AU ... but you get the idea Matt Back Lenso D1R rims.

i`m a big fan of 17 inch wheels being the happy medium Vincenzo, tyres seem to be a better price for 17's as well, i have to say i was given 18`s in silver/shadow chrome(not my size choice........ but a prezzy so what you gonna do :()
and i reckon they look pretty smick even though they are a little weathered, if i find a piccy i`ll post up. |

Number one would be my first choice. Would go nice with the silver duco.
The gold would be my next choice. Never really liked the black. GK

Well, I took the first step with the wheels by pricing the rims and tyres. I decided I would go Ol' School with the Chrome and Gold (C / G). Unfortunately they no longer make them in a 17". If I go (C / G) I will have to go to 18" or go the all black to stay with a 17" - decisions decisions.
Cheers Vincenzo

I originally voted for the black and chrome after trying to imagine them on a Silver AU - sort of the tough look like DaveTE said, then I saw AU Mont's post with the gold rims and that just looks pure class, I've changed my mind.
It's a shame rims are so damned expensive, it would make the decision so much easier if you could afford to change them like shirts. Post up pics when you get the new shoes on mate. On the other hand, I don't mind the rims you're currently running. If I may ask, what's the damage on the new rims? Cheers!

eBay has the 20" Chrome / Gold for $275 per rim, so I would think the 18" would be around $225 per rim. The only thing I don't like about the 18" rims are the extra cost involved in the 18" tyres to match. As it is rims and tyres work out at $500 per corner Cheers Vincenzo

I've got a set of FPV 19's on at the moment which had near new Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber. Will probably be replacing them by the end of the year, not going to lose too much sleep even with decent 19" prices. |
