Be careful saying that you driving standards are higher than most on here. Mighty big claim not knowing most here personally. You do not need to be an instructor or a driver trainer to be the only good driver! You might be surprised that most are very competent drivers as most on the road actually are. Yes. I do believe that. It is only the very few that are a problem despite your higher than though attitude. Just look as some basic statistics which proves this ( number of cars on road vs accidents per day) Find the % and it is lucky to hit 1% per day.

When you 'check' your speedo do you ever then readjust your speed because you find that with in the last 1/10th of a second you can go from a perfect compliant driver to someone with a fine? Wrong place, wrong time .... and the fact that everyone 'speeds' when they drive (even a 5 minute jaunt around the block) does not and never will justify the low tolerance or placement of most speed cameras.

Police presence is the number 1 crime deterrent. Unfortunately 1 costs money .... the other makes (huge) money.

And yes ...... I live in Melbourne and have been fined a couple of times with cameras. Ones that I consider stupid and petty weeks and weeks after the event. Makes me angry and ****ed off ..... not drive slower. Slower is dangerous!!!! Have also been pulled over in the country ..... I copped that as it was a fair cop.

The government use the road toll (deaths on roads) to cash in on a massive amount of money every year. That is not right and I am so sorry people cannot see passed this but get on their band wagon. The amount of energy spent on the 'Few K's over' mantra is so disproportionate to the MAIN factors that cause injury or death on the roads. AGAIN .... it is an easy cash cow

Stupid decisions is 1 of the major causes and that is something that will never disappear. Hiding Camera's behind trees, unmarked cop cars, receiving fines 3 weeks after the event, camera's hidden bottom of hills will not and never will be a deterrent for those who purposely speed.

There is a move to get Pennsylvania to join the majority of states when it comes to having higher speed limits.

Republican State Sen. Joseph Scarnati is trying to drum up support for a bill he hopes to introduce raising the top speed limit to 70 mph along some Interstate routes, including along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
“Increasing Pennsylvania’s maximum speed limit on interstate highways and the turnpike will allow for better traffic flow and more efficient delivery of goods and services throughout the Commonwealth,” he wrote in a memo on Friday to his fellow senators.
The top speed limit in Pennsylvania for cars and trucks is 65 mph along rural portions of Interstate highways and 55 in and around cities.
Currently 34 states have a top speed limit of 70 mph, including Pennsylvania neighbors Ohio and West Viriginia, while 16 have them at least 75 mph.
Under Scarnati’s plan speed limits would remain at current levels unless engineering and traffic studies conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or Turnpike Commission find that a higher speed limit is reasonable and safe before increasing it on any stretch of road. Because of that, he says the American Automobile Association is supportive of his efforts.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reportedly will look over the legislation once it is introduced while the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission seems to be in favor of the bill.
