That's not the best example to use in order to defend government. The Myki project was put out to tender. Of 6 tendering providers, 5 had the experience of a successful smart-ticketing system implementation. Guess which one the Vic government chose...

Ye it took years for them to sort out the bugs.....I use it quite a bit at the moment and its seems to work fine now....They have fitted extra monitors on the platforms so you dont have to wait as long to clock off in the peak times lining up waiting.....They have recently jacked weekend prices up and also rounded off the timing to suit them not the user.

Absolutely agree 100%, their priorities are wrong. But getting an arts grant to show a human peeing on a crucifix happens instantaneously in Canberra.

This invention should be evaluated and if it is as good as they say it is, then it should get R&D funding from govco. They'd at the very least get a return on their investment as opposed to some insecure little art student atheist seeking relevance with his sub-par intellect.

Outside of the pharmaceutical industry, with its enormous profit potential, most significant developments come from govt funded research ie NASA NSA CIA USAF Bletchley Park etc not to mention our CSIRO.
US research developed the basics of the 'smart phone' frinstance.
But it didn't develop the wine cask the Victa mower or the Hills clothes hoist....
