I just thought of 7,000 reasons to go buy the inferior Mazda 2 or Mazda 3...
I think the chances of an Aisin auto box stuffing up are way less... |

Some of the prices quoted in this thread are outrageous but as I said before- it's probably more down to the clutch supplier than the workshop. Expect typical service time/costs to remove and replace transmission- no escaping that.
There have been reports of issues including judder etc in the US on the Fiesta/Focus. This is likely to be a software issue rather than a mechanical issue but not resolved in a timely fashion, it has a chance of causing a mechanical problem. As for mass- the whole transmission including flywheel/clutch module is about 75kg for the DQ200, the 6DCT250 and the Hyundai 6 speed DCT. I think what the service rep was alluding to might be a dual mass flywheel. These are installed on manual transmission vehicles as well as DCT and basically have a service life of about 100,000km before they start to squeak etc, regardless of DCT or manual. There's a reason Subaru offer a standard flywheel with their clutch kits... |

...and for the record- whole transmissions with low km can be had from wreckers at pretty cheap prices.
