FORD EXPECTS BEST-SELLING BRAND REPEAT IN UNITED STATES FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR
- 2013 retail sales up 15 percent year-to-date, as share grows across entire Ford lineup of cars, utilities, trucks and electrified vehicles - Strong growth driven by western and southeastern regions of United States - Ford brand expects to sell more than 2.4 million vehicles for 2013 - Ford brand sales lead through November increases to 396,041 units over second-place Toyota brand - With more than 2.4 million vehicles sold, Ford expects to retain its title as best-selling vehicle brand in the United States in 2013, and has widened its lead over Toyota. "The great news is that we are not overly reliant on any one segment – we're seeing double-digit sales growth in cars, trucks and utilities," said John Felice, vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service. "The Ford brand has had more retail share growth than any other brand in the country, with our most significant gains coming from import-dominated coastal markets. With 16 launches next year, we're looking to keep our sales momentum going." For the full year in 2012, the Ford brand lead over Toyota totaled 329,677 vehicles. While December sales are not finalized, Ford expects that number to grow substantially. Through November, Ford's lead over Toyota has widened to 396,041 vehicles. Retail sales Ford brand retail sales are up 15 percent through November of this year, compared to 12 percent for the brand overall. The strongest retail sales growth is coming from the traditionally import-dominated western and southeastern regions of the country. Ford retail sales are up 23 percent in the West, while Southeast region sales are up 18 percent. Ford brand retail sales are expected to surpass 1.7 million vehicles in 2013, which makes this the company's best retail sales performance in six years. Passenger car retail sales will surpass 600,000 vehicles – the highest volume since 2000. Growth in all segments Ford Fiesta set a new sales record in 2013, with a projected 70,000-plus vehicles sold, while Ford Fusion had its best year ever, with sales expected to exceed 290,000 vehicles. Ford is the best-selling utility brand for the third straight year, outselling the second-place brand by more than 30 percent. Sales of Ford utility vehicles are up 10.3 percent, to 621,652 units. Ford Escape leads this increase; Escape is projected to sell more than 300,000 units – its best-ever year since launching in 1999. Ford Explorer is up about 15 percent, and is expected to be the best-selling midsize utility vehicle in the United States for 2013. This will be the best year for Ford utility vehicle sales since 2004. Ford brand hybrid vehicle sales are expected to exceed 80,000 vehicles this year, nearly triple the total in 2012, making 2013 the company's best-ever hybrid vehicle sales year. The all-new Ford C-MAX hybrid lineup is drawing nearly half of its customers from import brands. An improved U.S. economy and an increase in home construction starts have helped boost Ford F-Series pickup to another sales crown as the nation's best-selling truck for 37 straight years. With 688,810 sales through November, F-Series will be the overall best-selling vehicle in America for the 32nd year.

They sold 65,501 F trucks last month. That is still crazy, almost our whole market in one model...! |

Before the GFC Ford was selling over 1,000,000 F trucks per year, and now they are back up to around 700,000 for 2013. Yanks still love their Pick Ups.

If 2013 is good for Ford, just wait till next year with the all-new Mustang, F-150, and Transit. Revamped Super Duty with even more power and torque. New "Nano" EcoBoost engines. I guess also the global Everest will hit the streets too.

F series is already doing the bulk of Ford's profits. If they can't get their other models to stand on their own, one slip up for F series and they could be sunk again.

If Ford is doing so well against Toyota there, why is is going so poorly here against it?

Good job Ford, going from strength to strength.
Now where is the Focus/Fiesta RS?

This is a good result for Ford in general & especially for Ford USA. However, it does highlight the poor job Ford Australia have been doing to be sitting 5th & market share decline for 8-9 straight years (including this one). Let’s hope results like this are heading Ford Australia's way in the not to distance future.

Would love to see the F150 Crew Cab here in 4 x 4 version. Doubt FoA will bring it out though.

If truck sales die off Ford will be cushioned from the drop by demand for the rest of the range. Mullaly et al are smart enough to not rely any one model or segment for sales. |

this will mean taking down Dearborn truck first for about six weeks to do the changeover while Kansas City keeps going until late November before switching. People wil be truly amazed when they see what Ford has achieved with the next F150. |

Yeah the F-Trucks fatten Fomoco's profits right up. It's good to see they're on the front foot however; re: making the F-Trucks lighter, and offering a broad range of engine options. Making them cheaper to own/more environmentally friendly should keep them as relevant as possible to as many people as possible.

Word is the F150 will get a 10 speed auto and a new 2.7L Ecoboost, aswell as something like a 700lb weight reduction.

For dis using a new process for Alcoa called Alcoa 951 which coats the aluminium and bonds to the oxide allowing for the use of reliable bonded structural joints without welding and possibly without riveting. This will revolutionise Ford's body shop process while allowing F150 to keep its steel frame and solid suspension. The reduced weight coupled with the rumored baby Ecoboost V6 sounds like a winning combination tht will allow Ford to stay under CAFE fuel economy limits and sell as many F trucks as it can.. Hopefully, we will see this lightweight Aluminium body construction process extend to other vehicles, it's the very thing cars and SUVs have needed to reduce fuel consumption without killing performance. |

Americans officially have higher IQ, better taste in vehicles and more patriotism than Australians. Australia means a great deal to Korea, Thailand and China.
