I know others have jumped on your idiotic comment, but 9-10 year old Mazda3's are around the $10,000 mark.

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here. The B Series were some of the best Falcons ever made.
I dont want to derail the thread. The BA was the most problematic of the B series and some of the issues weren't that big, but Ford Australia's "Save a dollar lose Five" thinking around warranty and fixing issues with cars and the mostly inept dealer network, made a lot of issues much worse for Falcon and dragged them out, well past the time Ford should have paid to fix them and fix them right.

I think the BA got a lot of people into Ford dealers who hadn't been in one for many years. Then Fords penny pinching and the dealers still thinking its the 70's (they still think that way) burnt a lot of customers.

Do a search on these forums and you'll find plenty of examples of people who just walked away in the end. The BA was the peak of interest in the more modern Falcons and its been declining ever since, at a faster rate then Commodore. I think there is a reason for that.

You've got three years left to get your head around the idea that ANYTHING you buy new is not Australian made. You sound like you are still talking like its the launch year of the Datsun 120Y.

My 2007 BF Mk 2 Ghia is only worth $5k as trade in and local Ford dealer cann't see why I am not interested in trading in on a new Ford!!!! I know selling privately I would get more, but tyre kickers etc don't interest me..

Tell me a modern car that does retain it's value ?? I buy new vehicles as I can claim on them thru my business. But If I were not in business I would not buy new. I'd buy a 2 year old as by then it has done some serious depreciating already...........

My ex-wife had a Mazda 3 for first "new" car (last shape).

Most rubbish car I've ever been part of owning. Reliable and cheap to run though, didn't miss a beat just almost fall asleep driving it despite the "great to drive" reviews.

Obviously compared to other shopping trolleys I guess.

So no, I would think that price for a new one is absurd. (but they will sell for sure regardless, the rank and file love them as financially they are a sound decision)

Problem is the comparison isnt exactly equal
Private vs dealer
More kms on the Falcon
Different States

But in the end of the day everyone knows Falcons have crap resale, and if you havnt realised more often than not thats the main appeal of them.

Trouble is when Falcons (and Commodores) go, its going to make the used car market quite interesting.
Australia already has one of the oldest average age of vehicles in the Western World; when cheap late model cars like the Falcon disappear, what are people going to buy instead? They arnt going to be able to afford as new second hand vehicles, so the average age of our vehicles will get older and older.

It’s great the be patriotic and by Australian made cars but they are all foreign owned and except for Toyota which most likely follow suit you mostly likely not be able to buy a new Australian made car in 5 years’ time. So it’s Asia, Europe or the USA if want to buy new cars in the future
