Default Took my XR5 to CMS and...

I posted this in the CMS area too, but I wanted to share it for anyone who is looking for a tuner in NSW, and for anyone with an XR5 who is looking for a custom tuning option..

Back Story:

My XR5 was custom tuned by the prior owner, and was just too boosty. After having it for 11 months, I had finally had enough of how it drove.

Off to CMS:

I have seen some of Joe's cars in the past, and I know he has a strong reputation in the falcon world. So, I went down to CMS and had a chat, asking if he could do a tune for me that was nice and smooth, and not so concerned on the peak power figures.

Joe was confident that he could deliver what I was after, so I dropped the car off last week to get it tuned.

After picking it up, I was instantly over the moon with how smooth it was. Joe, you have nailed it! Thank you very much mate.

Well done mate - a great example of how sometimes less is more!

A bit like having too wild a cam in an old V8 for the street.

Thanks Geoff

You're right Ozpacman, though in saying that, she still has plenty of balls, just applied in a more meaningful way

intrigued to know what the cost was Bourney? is it better value for money than the tuner the previous owner used?

Joe and the team have always done awesome work to all of their customers' cars ... One reason I have stuck with them for all my cars past and present.

Awesome to see another happy customer.

StefD I think it is better value, yes.

82... This particular tune is 157kw and ~550nm at the front wheels.

I asked for a smooth tune, rather than a "powerful" one, so I'm sure if you wanted to, you could get a lot more.

Interestingly enough, the previous tune, which promised close to 200kw, only came in at 150.

Now I know dyno's ain't dyno's, but still made me smile.

550nm!

Does it torque steer much with that much torque going through the front wheels?

550Nm after a tune from a stock 320Nm ? That would be 72% increase with just a tune.

It has an LSD to handle the power, but if you don't have the wheels dead straight, you tend to cover plenty of sideways ground VERY quickly

It has a few mods, which obviously help it along.

that was 200 at the hubs though wasnt it? irrespective of figures, so long as it feels better when you put the right boot into the footwell, thats the main thing... planning to take it to the strip?

Yeah I was going to say 550nm at the wheels seems far fetched, but by the sounds it goes great anyway.

Great work again by CMS! Joe is a breathe of fresh air when it comes to dealing with tuning shops. Honest and not out to get every last penny from you.

Glad the little pocket rocket is more to your liking now!
