Default "No 1" Falcon

Very first one.The story behind this is very interesting,a Falcon came up for sale (in Victoria.) & it happened to be a "XK" Falcon being sold(believe it or not by an old lady, her late husband use to own it,)) apparently someone at(or connected to)Ford Aus saw it for sale, they then looked up the VIN No & found out it was 001.It was purchased by them and restored to it's former glory. It was then seen by a Ford employee by some worker's at the plant "hooning" around in it,subsequently it was then put into storage where it eventually ended up at the old Ford "Discovery" centre(where it is now is any one's guess.(Ihave seen it in the "Flesh" one of the employee's there, took me out the back to view it. Lovely motor!

I hope it gets put on display to the general public with the last FGX built. Would be nice to get one of every model in a museum somewhere, I would take care of em.

I was attending the "Back to the Fifties" car show in Minnesota in 2013 and just as I was leaving I spotted this extremely rare Falcon Cayuse ...

Here's a story on it ... http://tffn.net/mags/june/ralph.html

I once owned the 13th XK Falcon made. Was in good nick. I used to store it at my Grandmother's place. Granny died in the late 1990's and I sold it for almost nothing..

That Cayuse is equally rare! I have seen that one as well. Not sure you could put a price tag on it.

Would have been neat to find people who worked on the line when that first XK rolled of the line. Get a photo op. Ask them did you know what you started!

Hi Ken, how's it going?
Did you get across to Illinois for the Nats last year?
Peter.

Not sure about the story of the old lady, but I did know somebody that helped prepare it for display at an Early Falcon Nationals back in the early nineties. When they received it was very dirty from being stored a long time and missing some bits of trim.

I took these pictures at the plant in June 2010 at the 50th anniversary day. Note the low mileage, is it genuine?

The story of the "old" lady is indeed correct.(Wife remember's when we viewed it,the gentleman said that it had been stored in a shed & was quite dirty & that she wanted to sell it.)I guess with mileage there is no way of knowing if it is correct.(Unless of course it has been "around" the clock.) Wife also mentioned that she seem's to remember that a relative(of the lady in question.) contacted Ford to see if they where interested, because the vehicle was quite old.(& of course the rest is history as they say.)Cheer's
