Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why!
Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway. Top Holden of the Week  Looking at this LX Holden Torana SLR 5000 with its enormous rear tyres and massive bonnet cowl, you definitely wouldn’t be mistaken if you thought it was built to smoke tyres and smash out quick quarter-mile times. It does exactly that, running a best time of 11.91 @ 113.36 MPH. Top Japanese of the Week  To the untrained eye this looks like any ordinary Corolla with a fancy gold paintjob, but to those in the know this is the rare factory-turbo Toyota Corolla Sportivo Levin. Being the rad sleeper that it is, this ‘Rolla ran an impressive best time of 14.55 @ 101.23 MPH. Top Rotary of the Week  Pac Performance decals on a Mazda RX-3 usually mean that you’re in for a show. This clean white example was no exception, managing a blisteringly fast best run of 10.22 @ 132.18 MPH. Top European of the Week  This 996 Porsche 911 Turbo looked great going down the strip, managing an incredibly quick best time of 12.37 @ 116.79 MPH in what appeared to be its stock configuration. The engineers down in Stuttgart definitely knew what they were doing when they came up with this one. Top Ford of the Week  Honed on the rally circuit but at home on the drag strip, this MK2 Ford Escort ran the quarter-mile, using its lightweight body to its advantage and managed a best time of 16.44 @ 81.71 MPH. Commentator’s Pick of the Week  The brand-new 2016 Ford Mustang GT came down to Sydney Dragway to show off what it’s got and it didn’t disappoint. Looking beautiful in that striking red paint, its 5.0L V8 propelled it down the strip to a best time of 13.16 @ 109.39 MPH. Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. Thanks for giving my car the commentators pick of the week. Had an absolute blast, specially as it was my first time drag racing as well.
