it is a 91 EB1, actually that quote is for leather they have in stock, I went today and I'm not happy with the match. I'd pay happily if it was perfect but he's saying it will be extra $500 to get in dark grey leather. I'll try some more trimmers and check the wreckers

It's now 2017. Anything with leather will have heated seats, maybe even cooled.

Anyway I think leather is so much better overall. Except at 3am in winter while parked outside or 2pm in summer parked in direct sun for hours. I avoid the latter with window tint and a sun shade on the windscreen

380 for repairs seams steep. I have never had to fix leather though.

Try changing shoes, some of my cheaper brand of runners cause shocks.

I found the way around this was to hold the door frame before your feet touch the ground.

understand completely, I just got the gregorys workshop manual, for all the good it will do me ha ha,i'm not so mechanically inclined and anyway my car has some issues but none of them are mechanical.

Mechanically they are pretty good its just the uv damage that effects the trim that tends to let the party down. Oh and try not to overheat them.

my trim came back good,considering, I have one window operating,thankfully it's the drivers and no heater, aircond cold works so that's the main thing. I know it's a dash out to even start that's expensive. dash does rattle a bit on dirt roads so it's tempting I could kill 2 birds one stone. then ive got a rust spot, and all of it on a non valuable non V8 lol. I just tell myself it's still cheap motoring. your Fairmont must be good coming from the family

Yeah its not too bad the only thing is the bloody hoodlining dips a bit and the uv has got to some of the plastic ive got eb bits to replace them. It could be me but i think they must have got the uv stabilisation sorted in later models.

the uv on the inside too, I replaced my demister switch and the dimmer switch on the headlight switch and I found cruise control switches on epay.

The demister switch is hard to find . Ive yet to find one that isnt trashed. As far as interior plastics the only thing that i dont have to replace is the trim piece that goes across the windscreen. I know need to find a really dark blue dye to refinish the other bits.ive not been too sucessful as yet.

I was surprised how good my windshield piece came back, it does take several applications and then hand buff, the rain has streaked it now but I use the mothers brand, trim and plastic restorer

The fairmont is royal blue inside and the replacement parts are grey so you can see my problem i will have to get the colour made up.

royal blue interior, I can imagine 1991 interior trim anything is getting harder and harder to find

$380 isn't much at all when you consider what's involved.
For starters, you got three panels replaced, not just one.
The trimmer had to pull the seat down and remove the cover, unpick all of the seams, pattern the new panels, cut them out, stitch them to some new foam, stitch the new panels together, stitch them to what's being reused of the old cover, re-fit the cover and re-assemble the seat.
Add all of that to the cost of the leather at around $135-$170 per square mtr....... and it doesn't seem unreasonable at all.
