Well I'm more partial to the Victa Mustang myself. My grandpa had one of those green plastic shrouded ones from the seventies and Ive had a both 4 and 2 stroke modern versions. Top mower!

I had a Cox, the back end was stuffed, so we modded it. Put a Morrie A40 back end in the thing, had to run bald rears to keep the young bloke under control.....
Didn't work for long he got an XR50T running 517rwhp now.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

G'day GOOD CHOICE...but can it cut the back lawn..Maybe it can..Sorry , slightly off topic again ...Re Holden. I first thought when I saw this thread ".Isn't it strange that so many of us in the Blue camp are feeling for the 'enemy' in the Red camp"..
No it's not actually the more time goes on because we are kindred spirits in many ways ..and we have already felt the pain of watching a company many of us had a passion and allegiance too wind up action..The Red camp will go through this in 9 months time. I visited (not joined) a Holden Forum back three months or so ago and I saw a thread entitled R.I.P. Ford...So many nice comments and one really jumped at me..Paraphrasing a bit but it read something like Thanks Ford..We needed you to keep us at our best..The competition was awesome....Even the Stang was admired by one or two there...Just shows ya.... Cheers Rod..

Humanity is a funny thing, nothing is absolute if one is truly human. Reminds me of the Christmas Truce of 1914. One may hate, plunder or kill the opposition, but somewhere in the back of our minds, the fact remains that underneath it all, we were all brothers from different mothers and can't help but feel sorry to see their demise.

Holden to host a ‘Dream Cruise’ and family fun day before carmaker closes its Elizabeth doors

IT WILL be the ultimate lap of honour, when thousands of Holden owners participate in a 10km “dream cruise” to mark the end of an era for car manufacturing in South Australia.

Monaros, Toranas, Commodores and Sandmans will be among the iconic Australian vehicles that roar through the northern suburbs on Sunday, October 15, The Advertiser can reveal.

The history-making drive — five days before Holden’s Elizabeth factory closes its doors — will be followed by a family fun day at Central District Football Club, at Elizabeth South.

While the farewell event signals the end of 69 years of Australian manufacturing for Holden, the day aims to be a celebration of not only the cars, but also the people behind them.

Holden senior group leader Dave Depares, who started working at Holden in 1988 as a 17 year old, said he would be driving his Elizabeth-made, 2016 HSV in the cruise. His wife Anne, who he met when she worked at the Elizabeth plant, will be behind the wheel of her 2003 Monaro.

“It is the end of an era for local manufacturing and it has been a big part of my life,” Mr Depares said.

“I think it will be a proud day. It will be good to celebrate what we have achieved over the years and showcase all of the products we’ve made.”

The cruise will start at Elizabeth City Centre and go past Holden’s vehicle operations plant on Philip Hwy, then end at the My Money House Oval at Central Districts.

It will be led by the first and last cars built in Australia: a 1948 48/215 and a 2017 VF Commodore. Thousands of cars are expected to take part. Holden executive director of manufacturing Richard Phillips said owners with vehicle models made or assembled by Holden in Australia could register to participate in the cruise from Wednesday.

“We want to hold an event that recognises the large community of people who care about the brand (and) its manufacturing heritage,” he said.

The event at Elizabeth South will feature a show ‘n’ shine competition.

Tried to put this in the original Holden closure thread but it was locked...was still worth my trouble finding that thread though as I got another look at Uber Knee's avatar.
