Simple fact is, doesn't matter who the company is, that if you set up two independent subsidiaries, and told them to build cars from scratch to appeal to mass markets in Europe and North America, you would get two very different cars. For me the classic example is the Honda (Acura) MDX. We almost bought one. We all know Honda make great cars, and the MDX was beautiful, gorgeous interior, and well-equipt. Yet it bombed in Australia and was withdrawn from sale. Why? Because it was designed and built in North America for their market, and whilst the versions we got were RHD, that was the only difference. It was supremely comfortable to drive, but it cornered like an oil-tanker, and at 100kph actually wallowed. The Territory was a great car, but ultimately, despite a few facelifts, it was still being built on the EA169 platform. We got nearly 20 years out of that platform, and it wasn't exactly ultra-modern when first developed. |

yes still (as money n time permit) doing the rebuilding the zh fairlane with a clevo 400m 4v heads injected whipple blown with aode 4 speed trans to a 9" ....... we'll get there eventually just remember don't be afraid to try something new. I beg to differ. Drove a 2016 Explorer, and it was right up there with the Ford Territory in performance, handling, style and interior design.

Food for thought here,
What if Expedition was sold in RHD with F150's coming 3.0 V6 diesel or even better, the 4.4 V8 lion diesel and 10-speed auto.. If it was done properly, there may be some decent upper end sales both here and in other RHD markets to make a project like that viable (just like Mustang) And yeah, I'm asking for basically a Ford "Landcruiser" to test Toyota's hold on the market. |

You are probably right. Interestingly though, The Fast Lane Truck did a towing comparison with the Titan XD diesel and the 5.6 V8, and the fuel savings on the diesel was marginal.
