Hi guys,
I have a 99 AU falcon xr6 that won’t turn over. Tried a few things including: - interior light fuse - battery / jump start - bridged terminals 30 and 87 to rule out starter relay - tried start in Park and Neutral When turning key, smartlock hand disappears and only a exclamation indicator light comes on whilst trying to crank. Can’t figure out where else to turn or what else to check. Any ideas? Thanks

I’ve had two no-crank situations in the AU ute.
First time, water corrosion to the PCM header pins. Second time, water corrosion to wires in the white connector just below the glovebox hinge, near the PCM. Both times the corrosion was to a point of the contacts physically crumbling. |

Wow thanks mate I’ll check them out.
Just wondering could it simply be the starter motor?

Firstly make sure you have a good battery, either by swapping, or jump starting from another big car.
Then first step is to try putting power straight onto the control point on the solenoid. If that doesn't work then its either the solenoid or starter, (and you should be able to hear the solenoid) If it does work, then work your way backwards. In old AUs I have found problems with the key-barrel, and the transmission cut-out, bith solved by jiggling.

Did it crank when you bridged 30 and 87
What is battery voltage and check connections If not try tapping starter body while someone cranks engine also try bridging power to switch terminal of starter What month- mid 99 when smart shield started |

Also when turning key, I can hear the relay click so it seems to be all normal which is what pointed me to the starter motor. I have tried tap / bash starter motor etc but no luck so once I get the courage to get under there and take it out Im at a standstill. It looks like a pr*#& to take out... Nasty
