Exclamation Volkswagen to cut 35,000 jobs?

Seen a few articles today. That would be a huge shock if true. VW have been a basket case since the diesel emissions scandal.

They were a basket case before that.
A few people I know brought VWs in the mid 2000s and they P.O.S.

I know. A friend purchased a brand new Holden when the Gen III was released and had to have the engine rebuilt due to piston slap. He woved to never buy another Australian made car (I told him to consider a Falcon but he believed they were worse than Commodores). Next new car he purchased in the 00s was a VW and that needed an engine change.

One of the people I know was telling me the dealer ran out of loan cars and took her to get a rental. The dealer person left her after filling out the part of the rental agreement he needed to and the Rental Company employee told her the VW Dealer was their best customer and she was the 30th car they had out on rent to the Dealer.

When I bought a VW Transporter in 2007 the extended warranty was a very popular option....

Reading some of these testimonials is giving me the heeby jeebys. Went and test drove a 24 Tiguan R-Line 162tsi yesterday as we are looking at upgrading our Santa Fe and I felt underwhelmed. Visually I think it looked killer but the way it accelerated even in sport mode and the stiff suspension made me want for more refinement. I also found even the demo one we were driving was very glitching in the infotainment.

As someone who never drove a VW before, I hope this isnt the legacy of VW based on what Im reading.

I think its more when things go wrong and out of warranty very expensive to repair for parts that shouldn't need to be replaced as quickly as some other brands. But it drove beautifully right up to 300,000km and after I replaced the DPF and turbo....my account said..."you do know you've spent the equivalent of 6 months repayments on a brand new van just fixing it"
