Why is it some drivers believe they have a personal space on the roads which cannot be encroached? I was driving for a couple of km behind another car. At one point they indicated left and pulled to the side. I believed they were either parking on the side of the road or entering a driveway. However when I passed them they immediately pulled out behind me and continued in the same direction as before. WTF! About 100 meters later I repeated their maneuver and ended up behind them. We stayed that way until we reached a roundabout and went our separate ways.

Why is it that those towing a caravan at 30 under the limit, with a queue of 47 cars trapped behind.
Or timid drivers that can't go faster than 35 in town, will not perform the above mentioned pull over manouvre?

Cheers, Tony

Usually the same driver who sits on 60 in an 80 zone, but when the zone becomes 50, they don't actually slow down and continue doing 60. Typically the sort of person who buys an MG.

Whenever we had more than 3 cars behind me, I would pull over and give them room to pass. Most gave you the friendly wave in appreciation.

Kinda makes me wonder why some parents/guardians/licenced drivers find it necessary to put multiple L plates on a car whilst a learner is learning to drive. Is it paranoia from the person doing the teaching, or is it a warning of an exceptionally bad learner? 1 on the front and 1 on the back is enough for me to know its an inexperienced driver.

Driving a camper van around NZ in December I found the same thing, a friendly wave, a little toot or a flash of the hazards.

We were both driving at the speed limit. I had no intention of going faster, or hassling them to go faster. Would have been happy to stay behind them.

Nothing worse sitting behind some dribble who sits under speed limit, once you pass them, they decide to pass you and do it again.

Driving a truck/pocket road train in Perth last year on the freeway. 110k limit but speed limited to 100kmh so am doing that.
A learner passes me, but maybe 5-10k up the road they’ve now slowed down to 90ish.
So when I catch up to them I pull out and pass, and typically like most inattentive motorist when they see a truck passing them will speed up.
This one sped up and sat in line with the truck cab, right in the blind spot. Leave me hanging out in the RH lane holding up traffic.
The quick fix to this is to move left and put the passenger side wheels on the lane markings, they shit themselves and slow down pretty quick.

But to answer your question, prime example why the driving standards are ****ed, those with NFI and don’t have any driving ability/common sense teaching these learners bad habits.
Most usually in retard cars, like soulless Jap/Korean soft roader SUV.

Drives at 40 kph in single lane 50 zone then when it becomes double lane 60 kph zone takes off like a rocket. I'm somewhat pxxx off but have lost the urge and the necessity to pass them.

returning home today 8 hour drive, it was a great pleasure to be stuck behind 3 caravans in close formation behind a road train. Knowing the road and passing lanes I was beside the road train as these knobs thought they would tuck in behind me.........no such luck I slowed down to 75 and got them crawling over each other, then as passing lane was closing a quick blip on the pedal and I was cruising at 150 past the road train.
Yes I know its wrong blah blah etc but it sure was fun. After regularly driving the Augusta hwy for 8 years plus, there are places mr plod always is around and places Ive never seen him

I knew it, not just me.

Got stuck behind one of these for a while who would;

Go 20kmh under the limit on double lines...
Unless there was shade on the road, where they'd go 30-40kmh under...

Accelerate to 10kmh over on clear straight bits of road where overtaking might be possible...

Would brake test at random, which wasn't an issue because I wasn't even close to tailgating...

Mid afternoon, minimal cloud and visibility to infinity...

Whilst driving a mobile budget whitegood, aka an MG3...

I tend to be patient to a fault, but this was obnoxious and stupid.

After 20 minutes of this stupidity and an increasing line of cars behind I decided to actually make use of the barra with blowdryer and risk my license in the process. I had dashcam footage of this idiocy so if I got nailed, I'd take that clown with me.

I didn't get nailed, if I was I'd be typing this from a cell right now...

I don't get it. When I'm the slow vehicle, I try to make efforts to be easy to get by and not hold up others. At overtaking sections, I'll sit under the limit to make sure I'm not in the way.

I really, really miss driving in Japan. Yeah, 80kmh on the expressways but the cops don't pay much attention until you're double that and change or being stupid about it...

These people think they are driving "safe", when in actual fact by not keeping up with traffic are just causing road rage. If you are not a confident driver then hand in your license or allow people to pass you.

This is where entitlement comes in, as in they think it's their right to drive at any speed. No, it's actually against the law to impeded other drivers by going significantly slower than the posted speed limit.

These same said people also have an invisible bumper sticker that reads:

I've never had an accident.

I'm betting a weeks worth of wages that they have probably caused a few due to their selfishness / inattentiveness.

When it come to impeding traffic what p*sses me off are the tools that make right hand turns from the left of a lane and left hand turns from the right of the through traffic lane.

Both instances particularly at higher country speeds cause traffic to brake and bunch up for no reason.

These people are not driving long vehicles.

I hate the clowns that realise they need to be in a turning lane that is full of traffic, so rather than just go to the next intersection and turn there, they stop in the middle of the road and put their indicator on and wait for the next change of lights for someone to let them in. I hate them about as much as I hate the clowns that reward them and let them in.

Why is it that when I attend the local station to make a complaint about a local business in a shopping centre parking their delivery vehicle across the footpath/kerb, forcing people walking to the nearby taxi rank (think disabled & elderly) to have to step down over the kerb, walk along the road and then step back up onto the footpath, the inhabitants of said station ask me if its impacting me directly, I tell them no, but when I have to stop and help the elderly & disabled around said businesses delivery jalopy, I get told to forget about it, then I get told that they're *directing* me to drop the matter.

Yep, thats right, any further word about it and I couldve been charged with an offence that carries a fine of up to $4000.

Which leads to my next question.

Why is it[ that the inhabitants of said station still seem to expect that the public respect them?
