i have been thinking about this recently...i think your best bet would be to try and get a whole car...or at least the rear thats from a wreck, with irs of course...then basically rip it all out and put it in the other one...

There is a thread on this somewhere, came up about a year ago. Try a search.

I wouldn't mind seeing a conversion done on an EL.

By the time you did it it would probably cheaper just to trade up to one that has it fatory fitted unless you're doing it to a ute, wagon or older model that never came with it.

Their is a set up on eBay from series 1 Xr8

the front mounts attach to the factory front lower arm mounts, and for the rear you have to remove the brackets off the chassis and weld them into the earlier "rails".
the shocks mount in the same shocker mounting position i believe

the only thing keeping me from doing it is
a) you'd just about have to get an engineers certificate, and
B) i simply cant afford to at the moment...

but it would definatley be something i'd love to do in the future....

This pic usually helps. As you can see its an entire "drop in" cradle like Wayne said.
I know of one E series member currently in the process of fitting one, must catch up ans see how he's going.
